INTERNATIONAL CONTEST?

Sorry if this isn't the right section, feel free to move.
What do you think if we had a contest involving both Oniromancie and RMN? I thinking about a contest like the one that gave birth to «Les Yeux Sans Visage». Something along the lines of having a few teams (from both communities) compete.
Perhaps with a Christmas theme?
I'm thinking about some very small games here, nothing to time consuming.
It just seems to me like a really good idea and I could create a twin thread over at Oniromancie.
I haven't fleshed out the details yet but I was just wondering if the idea was appealing to you guys (if people would participate).

It's a neat idea for sure. I would participate, but right now I'm already over my head with projects anyways, so I can't.
It's not like any contests anywhere can't be joined by people from anywhere. Just do some cross-promotion and all that stuff.
You should invite Atelier, too. http://www.multimediaxis.de/forums/5-RPG-Atelier
There's the language barrier problem. But then again, it could be a game without text but that'd be a challenge...
I've found the Chinese communities and I'm looking for the Japanese ones. I've also found an Italian community.
I'd need to help to cover the languages I can't handle.

This should be the entire theme of the contest. That type of limitation was actually discussed awhile back and I'm interested to see that experimented in a contest of some sort. This sounds like the perfect match.
Yes, I do think it would be interesting.
I'm wondering how to deal with the judges. If judges all come from the same community, people will call foul play. Same thing if we ask members to vote...
Any ideas about what process to use to rate the games?

Maybe it sounds a little one sided, but our community has an event system where judges can be appointed, like so: http://rpgmaker.net/events/game_gale_2010/
You could get your judges to sign up here.

As long as we keep the number of communities small, it'd be cool if we had multilingual people (like yourself) team up and judge the games together (and organize it etc.). Be easy to remove confusion and bias that way.
I'm totally in btw.

Or... I could be the only one who knows who made which games. Since there won't be any text it would be impossible for members to tell who did what... unless people who participate show screens of their stuff.
We could then ask members to vote. I'm just not comfortable with having only a few people to judge the whole contest (should it take place).
I also would want to make sure that people don't quit which is why it should be a simple thing.
I'd say 4 communities:
Oniromancie
RMN
Atelier
That Italian forum...
I we get too ambitious the whole thing would get out of hand and collapse.
I think teams should be compulsory. It woud limit the participants and probably provide a better result.

A game without text would be really cool actually. Not to mention it would be fun to make.
GAH! I had this idea already. :)
It would be titled "..."
Well a title and simple start screen would be allowed but no actual dialogue or any use of the default menu/battles (unless you really want to use bitmap icons).
But then people will know from which community the game comes from and it'll influence their judgment.
I believe the only way to avoid foul play is to avoid text altogether. Games could simply be numbered.
Don't you think?

Ok, I get what you mean. Numbers are a good universal idea, so the teams would be secretly given numbers to associate themselves with?
This sounds rather cool, I'm curious about this... well, I'm not the kind who likes making short games for contests and stuff, (too lazy) but incidentally, my fellas over at Imaginarium (spanish rm community) love doing exactly that, in fact there is already a sort of christmas contest being organized over there or something, but maybe if you guys would be willing to accept, they could turn their efforts towards this one instead...
I think we should stick to European/Americas communities where languages can be slightly ... more mutually intelligible?
@Darken:
Well, yes, something like that. I think they could simply submit their games to whoever is responsible for the contest. Games would then be numbered and uploaded somewhere to be played by members in all of the communities for a while.
@alterego:
If you think they'd be interested, sure.
As I've said, we'd need clear rules right off the bat otherwise we would be stuck in a shitstorm of apocalyptic proportion (forgive my French).
I don't think 10 days would be nowhere near enough to get this organized which is why the theme couldn't really be christmas.
Let's hear it for your suggestions about the contest. Any ideas, suggestions? It would need to be something without text and something that can appeal to most communities.
EDIT: I agree, YDS.
EDIT2: Does the theme need to have something to do with the holidays?
Either way, this isn't *my* contest. I'm just throwing out the idea so if everyone wants New Years then that'd be fine I guess.
New Years sounds good to me.
