2010 GAMING CHOICE

This is 2010, and it's time to find out what your favorite game of 2010 is.

Personally, I find Halo Reach to be one of the best games I've played in 2010. It looked nice, and played like many of the previous Halo games.

It also had an interesting plot for a Prequel to the series. Most prequels in my opinion end up not doing so well.

It also had great multi-player and some nice weapons. Better than Black ops multi-player mode.

Infact, I enjoyed it so much, that I still don't understand how Black Ops sold so much so fast when the hype of the last Bungie halo game was upon them.

hehe
I prefer Call of Duty. It actually changes weapons each game. Why would I want an Alien version of the same weapon?

not sure what this "halo" is, but it sounds like some pansy ass fairy bullshit.

I thought the review sites didn't like Dukes recent adventure?
Looking at Steam stats the most played game of the year of mine is probably Europa Universalis 3 (138 hours). I bought it after listening to the Three Moves Ahead podcast and really liking what they talked about. Then came the Steam Summer Sale and I got my filthy hands on it.

I'm trying to think of other games I got this year and played but I can't come up with any. Sure I played Mass Effect 1&2 but honestly they weren't best of the year material.

So EU3 it is. A game that was released in 2007.
I'd have to disagree with Shinan and say that my vote would go to Mass Effect 2.
Gamespot gave Red Dead Redemption way to many freaking awards where Mass Effect to should have won.
Best in PC for me was StarCraft II.

Best on xbox 360: Mass Effect 2.

I was going to say The Witcher for PC, but it kept crashing on me and the menu interfaces were mot 100% to my liking. But it is seriously a bad ass game. So I'll give it a runner up.

To be fair EU3 took two/three expansions to finally get good and the map looked like complete ass until Divine Wind* which came out... last month?

* The hand drawn map mod which was available back in the days of the second expansion looked really sharp too

Two weeks ago. And still not on Steam! Fuck Steam, why did I have to buy the game there. But Divine Wind will have achievements won't it?
Yeah, but Paradox added their own magical touch. You need some sort of Paradox account to access them or something like that. I never bothered to check them out personally

Since I am pretty much stuck to either playing PC games at home, or playing rock band and Halo at friends' houses nowadays...

Best game of 2010: Starcraft 2

Yeah, those criticizing this game for not being different enough from Starcraft 1 were probably in the same camp of people who were criticizing it pre-release for being too different from starcraft 1. You have to appreciate this game for what it is - a visual and mechanical masterpiece that detracts very little if anything from SC1 (why fix it if it's not broke?) and adds in modern conveniences of a significantly enhanced interface. It also boasts remarkably balanced races in multiplayer considering its young age. Also, it's not on Steam, and Battle net 2 is actually pretty slick.

Blizzard is part of a rare and dying breed of PC developers that makes no apologies and stands on the merits of its game content, which, for the most part, still derives from true inspiration and sheer will + high skill of the dev team. It doesn't need to rely on gimmicks, crappy but somehow highly addictive facebook social games, manipulative hype and marketing, or dubius-at-best business practices such as small paid downloadable content packs that could have/should have just been released with the game, or bundled together with more significant changes in an actual expansion pack.
