YOUR COUNTRY'S MUSIC.
Posts
I don't know if I should post it here or in Moronic Stuff, but noticing all the shally dally about that forum, I choose to post in here. So, the deal is, post songs you love, from your own country... I feel like this'll be fun, since there's people from all over the world in here.
Well, I'll double post. The first topic I'll use to store all the videos dividedd by country, and I'll post mine in the second. ;D

But... there's so much...
Maybe if I only go for Finland-Swedish music.
But then... there's so little...
Maybe if I only go for Finnish music sung in Swedish...
(All these artists have been on the national top10 list at some point)

does this mean I have to post videos of Justin Beiber and Celine Dion?
You may also post Nickelback...
Trinindad 'n Tobago music is fun, I like it. Especially the second one. It's very different feeling! The first one somehow has a Brazillian spice. (not MPB, but something more sambaish, in the first case.)
Shinan, that last song is awesome! I liked this a lot. The second to last one is also kinda cool, as for the other two... Well, I'm not too fond of heavy music, but still it has a very specific feeling, and I love, love swedish. It's such a beautiful language!
I'm glad to see people posting vids, I want to know more about the world's music. ^¬^
Also, what's really pop in Brazil:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJ1bijmrIpI
:/
It's saddening, but 40% of the population is so much into this, and especially, 70% of the yound people... ;_;
Ok, maybe a little bit less. But that's all that is on TV. :C
(Not gonna post this on the first posf because it's humiliating.)

You don't have to post music that is terrible (in my case, stuff like Kent and Carola would probably be somekind of equivelent). There's a lot of great canadian music!
Also, I'm no fan of ABBA so sorry if you thought everyone in sweden likes them.
Exhibit A: Swedish prog
the word "prog" in sweden is actually referring to a unique swedish genre, more akin to psychadelic, acid-ridden seventies bands (most notably the above, which is awesome). there's also great music, such as
Blå tåget http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTAvm_Fk09M - many bands were left-wing oriented
Hansson & Karlsson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4c4EoiQwb4k
Bo Hansson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU2_SRCLKbY - this guy made a soundtrack for LORD OF THE RINGS in the seventies, which is INCREDIBLE
Exhibit B: Vispop
I'm not very into the genre, but another typical swedish musicstyle developed in the seventies.
Exhibit C: Chip, mod, sid, etc.
Sweden is actually known for alot of great chip, mod and sid-tunes (mostly due to the still on-going scene but also partly due to this masterpiece). There's evensomoe mainstream bands () who poularized it; Slagsmålsklubben - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD50Rf49pU8
Pluxus - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6yD35nN8Zg
Exhibit D: Extreme metal
Another glaring truth is that sweden is known for a slew of metal bands (nowadays, shitty stuff like In Flames, Arch Enemy, At the gates, etc.) but the reason for this would ultimately be Bathory's debut album in 1984 (although the first songs were released in 1982) making the self-titled debut most likely the first black metal album ever (yeah way! Venom had NOTHING on this) another famous contender that actually validates good music in this category is
Entombed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlg4m-n7Wvw - can you say death n'roll?
ALSO; there's a swedish rammstein for the curious (sung in swedish by angry lumberjacks and all that jazz)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogLwHEPyXBE if you happen to notice any SIMILARITIES between this and say... das krupps or even (gasp!) rammstein, don't hesitate to let me know! (also, I'm not a very big fan of raubtier but I figured it's pretty hilarious so they deserve a mention)
I'd post more variety but really, right now I can't think of much else that's typically swedish or has swedish vocals that I really like.
EDIT: that being said, I DO think KENT is the epitome of angsty swedish teenagers;
(I think they're awful)
Hawksley Workman
Striptease:
This was my favorite song 4 years ago. Great rocking beat that just gets me going.
Jealous of your cigarette:
This song's style is not usually one I like, but for some reason I can't help but like it. Neat video, too.
"Hawksley Workman, is a Canadian rock singer-songwriter who has garnered critical acclaim for his quirky yet accessible blend of cabaret pop and glam rock."

Bad as they seem:
Deep gravelly voice that I quite like.

Mr. Nemo you forgot all the lovely trallpunk like...
Dia Psalma and DLK :D
Edit: Also Kent isn't THAT bad... is it?

I like this thread! Also, my buddy (whose father is finnish) keeps playing M A Numminen all the time! it's pretty rad!
Oh, and I suppose you'd like... THIS aswell?;
truth to be told, I haven't actually listened to too much swedish punk :(
Edit: Kent is.... well, I do know people who HAVE good taste in music that likes them, but I really can't bring my self to enjoy one single second of it.

I think everyone has liked and/or listened to Ebba Grön at some point in their lives.
There's that one Kent song I like... FF or something. I should probably dig up something Finnish Finnish. Because I looked through youtube and there's hardly any Finland-Swedish songs there worth listening to (except for the Traktor Alban one. That's an old favourite).
EDIT: HOLY SHIT RAUBTIER: THAT'S SOME BRILLIANT SHIT!

Yeah, I suppose Ebba Grön is a true classic when it comes to swedish music.
there you go.
I actually saw raubtier live some months ago, it was pretty awesome - it stopped feeling like a rammstein-copy and more like swedish warmongering!
