HELP WITH MAP

Posts

I hate to tell you this, but I can tell by the game title that Chairman's main character is supposed to be Black. This never works in Rpg maker. This doesn't show otherwise.

I am making games for everybody to play. Not RMN by itself.

As for houses, I think both would work.

Just because you're not using the RTP don't mean you can't look at some good examples using the RTP.

That's the problem. Despite my other two games being denied here easily for bad graphics (Not this one) Fans of the series that it was based off liked the game. Some liked it regardless. Say if you ade game where you climbed floor tiles and walked o wall tiles. RMN would go OH MY GOD! THIS IS SO NOT RIGHT! DESPITE IF IT MATCHES THE GAMEPLAY! DENY! Yet an average Rpg maker or one whom has hear or never heard of the program and just played the game, wouldn't think this. That's who I am making games for, EVERYBODY. So I think people around here should think about EVERYBODY when looking at a game.
What!? So if kids playing pokemon where walking on trees, and used CUT to cut down a grass tile, they wouldn't notice? This is why Adventure of Wind is no longer your project. Your nuts. Just remake the damn game. I would also like to add looking at your other screen shots, you are a horrible screen shot taker. You take screen shots at the most uninteresting places. You have to sadly, show the best looking parts of your game here. Hire a Beta tester to take screen shots for you.

No, they wouldn't
When you submit a game to RMN, you're pretty much representing the community. If you're game is not up to par, then people may believe that the other games aren't as well.

That's why they review the games to makes sure that the best of games get represented and push those that didn't.
I was with you till you said best of games are represented here.

Oh and Stinkyfeet. yes they would..
People what people think is best varies per person. That is one thing that is flawed in this system.

No, they wouldn't
They would only deny games for their grpahics if they look like shit
And quite frankly your games look like shit!
Now, i thought his topic was HElp with map not Chairmandrek argues with common sense without even stating why he believes so

NOW, would you like help, or not?
Yeah actually, the best of the games around here usually get pretty well represented. Through both featured games/people reviewing them and giving a damn in general. The "crap" (Whatever you consider crap anyways) usually ends up sinking to the depths of the site, never to be seen again.
Actually, we haven't really helped. Adding more tiles to houses is a very small piece of the puzzle. You must also upgrade you black guy to VX standards. Never saturate the RTP. Drink lots of coke to prevent you from being lazy. Where's the Ghetto? If the picture is not the ghetto than can we see a screen of the ghetto? The fence in the picture uses a different floor tile then the ones around it. You have half a door for the door. Otherwise, it looks great. Lol

I think you mean this:

anyways, Id suggest you start by making the houses bigger, then, randomize all the natural stuff (plants trees ect) to give it a more natural look.
author=LockeZ
I don't even know where to start. This is like if someone asked for home decorating advice, and their house was burning down. Oh well, I guess everyone starts somewhere! Let's see if we can't whip you into shape.

OK, let's start with the houses. Houses are not that small. Jesus. Those houses are unbelievably tiny. Try to make them, uh, house-sized. Those are the size of garden sheds. For an example of better houses, look at.... any RPG.

The grass under the fence is randomly shorter. That makes no sense. Use fence tiles that are transparent underneath so you can put whatever grass you want under them.

You have too much empty space in between the houses. Making them bigger should help with that, but it probably won't fix it entirely. Put things in your town closer together, and fill empty spaces with something interesting.

That old woman's yard is ultra symmetrical and awful. The line of trees in the lower right is also awkward. For buildings symmetry is okay in some cases, but try giving plant life a more natural, sporadic feel.

The piles of... I guess those are dead leaves? They don't really fit. Try some bushes intead.

If you need some inspiration, here's a town I started building a week ago for a friend's game. This is a busy wasteland town called "Dustopia."

And the southern entrance area:

It's not done yet - as you can see the ground is still very bare in a lot of places, I need to find a way to fill it in so it's not all just dirt. There are pretty large sections of plain dirt and that's no good! If I can't solve the problem, I might just condense the town a little. Most of the events are there to make the multiple levels work, but some of them are actually objects - barrels or signs or other objects that I had to put in events because I'd already used all three layers.

Note that not all of this town is actually accessible! The guard tower, the western part of the south entrance map, most of the bridge, and the rusted platform are all inaccessible and are just there to make it look busier. Inaccessible portions of the map are a good way to add life to your town without making it too big to navigate.

Why is that guy red like that?
He doesn't fit the RTP style at all. Perhaps you should use a character generator? or a template?

Just a thought.

What the heck are you talking about?

As for bigger houses. The way the game is shaped, bigger houses would be kind of odd. Of course, I could just put both big and small houses in the game.
Take the old woman, for instance. Between the main character and her, the proportions are way different. The hero looks like something out of the RM2k(3) RTP in terms of proportions. They clash.

and the hero's face is very red. Is he supposed to be a devil/demon?

As for bigger houses... why are you so opposed to the idea? Even merely making the buildings two times bigger would improve the map. Another thing you should consider, though... Elevations will make almost any map look better. Try some.

Same goes for you Locke(Except your map is good as is). Your map would instantly look 200% better with even more elevation in the landscape.

And those arn't houses. This is worse than my mapping for gods sake...
Actually, I think he wants to see what he needs to ADD to the map to make it better because he doesn't seem to want to change that area of the game.

Wow,it took you this long to figure that out? I've said this numerous times.
