Closeno one can get into the online play because it's broken as fuck and actually connects maybe 5% of the time :lol:
the controls are pretty simple (light/medium/heavy and a launcher), the hardest part to get into is just how hectic everything is, especially if you're used to a slower game like SF4.
it's got enough cookie-cutter fightman game characters that are pretty serviceable even if you don't want to jump right into the weird dudes like modok or dogwhip or anything.
once they fix the fucked online stuff i'd definitely say it's worth the money. aside from the fact that they made the game really ugly, i don't see what mvc(2) purists are whining about
also just as an aside: they need to add dudley and gambit 8|

Zoning is still the best tactic in the game. You can't go wrong with an Arthur, Sentinel, Dante team.

I was beating the crap out of my friends who actually play the game.
all of my friends who mash have never won against me and i'm not particularly good at fightmans so

I must be a god then because me and my friend were playing for the first time and I beat him 9 out of 10 times even though I was using the keg man and only picked my team because I thought they were hilarious. Then I went on to beat up my 2 other friends who have been playing that game for like 2 days straight.

It's called a comic book art style. If you don't like comic books, then I can understand.
So I decided to get this game, and it arrived today.
So far I learned to use Dante and Trish, looking for 3rd member :) Still getting into it.
However I find it hard/almost impossible to do the combos that have FORWARD-DOWN-FORWARDDOWN-ATTACK in their input. How the hell do I pull these off? (for example Dantes level 3 hyper combo). I use the PS3 Dpad for controls. The analog stick is unusable for me, very unreliable. Any tips on how to pull these off?
Concerning the graphic style... I love it :D I never read any comics (not counting web comics), but I like how colourful it is. Though it is sometimes hard to see what is going on :)
EDIT: just had my first online match, incredibly fun, got my ass handed to me in the first round, but the next two rounds I won (although close, damn Akuma ). It was kinda button-mashy, but I knew what I was doing and what I wanted to do, so it wasnt random :D

Well, just be VERY precise and don't press the buttons haphazardly. I use the analog stick and haven't touched the D-Pad for "shoryuken" motion moves since SSF4.

I try to be precise, when I turn on the key display, I can even get the exact same input the move needs, but nothing happens anyway :D Kinda strange....
Also yeah, the online is broken, yesterday, the only way to play was through arcade mode with request matches on, and lobbys. Or should I say queues..... If there are 5 people in the lobby, 2 fight and 3 other just wait for their turn it seems.... Or am I missing something?
And today, I wasnt even able to find matches through arcade. Just got into 1 ranked game, got my ass spammed into oblivion.... not fun, he had 3 characters who just stood there and spammed quick ranged attacks, if I block, I loose health slowly, if I try to move, I loose health fast :/

I think SF4 had this problem back when it was first released. Capcom says they'll be fixing it eventually so that's good, I suppose.

I remember that many online games had connection problems on/close to launch. For example the not-so-smooth launch of Aion :D Hopefully they will fix this soon.
Also, I figured out how to do the forward-down-downforward moves, found a hint on one forum. I just have to press forward, then do the normal quarter-circle forward in one fluid motion, and voila, I can almost always trigger the level 3 hypers :D It takes some getting used to, though.

I use Taskmaster/Trish/Amaterasu most of the time. I probably play for about an hour each day.

to all the cryfags out there screaming for a sentinel nerf, it has happened. i can no longer take 1,000 hits from dante(fgs) players.
so many tears, so many bodies lay before the sentinel nerf. so many people online rage when they get dropped like a phat beat with sentinel. it's incredibly disgusting. like, they will send you endless hatemail and scream at you during the game when you lay out x factor and slide sentinel in. the tears feed his power.
