This game has yet to have a proper release date but is said to be released sometime during spring 2008. The game is called the last remnant and is going to be for the playstation 3 and xbox 360. It is made by square enix who also make the final fantasy series and is said to be similar to that.

Plot:
The Last Remnant is set in a fictional world featuring a number of distinct humanoid races; the Mitras, most human in appearance, the Yamas, strong fish-like people, the Qsitis, small reptilians, and the Sovannis, feline people with four arms. The story of the game revolves around "remnants", mysterious and coveted artifacts of varying shapes and sizes which possess magic powers and which have been the cause of several wars throughout the game's history.

Characters
Rush Sykes- The main protagonist is an 18 year old swordsman named Rush Sykes, who is designed primarily for fans of traditional Japanese role-playing games. He is trying to rescue his sister, Irina who is kidnapped by a mysterious man. The siblings hail from the peaceful Eulam Village, but soon Rush finds himself involved in a global conflict centering around the Remnants.

David Nassau- Accompanying Rush is a 19 year old David Nassau, the young, authoritative Marquis of Athlum. He aims to gain independence from a nation called Celapaleis. Despite being of royalty, he joins the battlefield alongside Gae Bolg, a devastating cannon-shaped Remnant.

The Conquoror- Another character is an older man with long silver hair and crimson clothes, known simply as The Conqueror. The Conqueror is a collector of remnants ; he is also linked to Rush, although the nature of this link is unknown.

Gameplay

The Last Remnant will feature a brand new battle system labelled by Hiroshi Takai (director) as a "Turn-burst, command-based system using symbol encounters." There will be no random encounters. It will also contain quick time events, sequences where the player must press a combination of buttons with a correct timing to defeat enemies. This system has appeared in other video games before The Last Remnant, for instance in Shenmue, Kingdom Hearts II and God of War.

In addition to the main character, the player's team (called a "Union") is composed of a number of soldiers whose skills vary according to different parameters. One parameter is the "morale" bar, which is affected by the events in battle and affects the way characters perform in battle. Battles can involve up to 70 enemies at once and will be at the core of the gameplay. Nobuyuki Ueda has commented on the battle system, claiming that it is "much deeper than the few seconds it received in the movie". Additionally, a high number of quests are expected.

This is really all the information they have on the game so far. I will try and find some more info to put here. Here is the link to the official square enix website:

This is the only Rpg I'm looking forward to from Square, oh an Crisis Core. Theirs two trailers out for this you know, the E3 one and the other random one, you also forgot to mention that this will be Squares first Japan/America release together, that's why it has the tagline.."Square-enix RPG for the world" haha.

I like how they are using the Unreal Engine, it seems they have used it quite well judging from the screenshots on the website.
I think it's pretty funny that there are two heroes in the game--one marketed towards "Japanese Audiences" (typical angsty bishounen with a big sword and a tragic past) and one marketed towards "Western Audiences" (typical stoic bad*^* with a big sword who doesn't talk much at all). Sign of the times.
I actually thought this game looked pretty stupid. It really reminds me of Drakenguard in the worst possible way.

LAMEEEE!

I don't like these much, unless they pull it off right and don't fook it up like in KH2, all you have to do is press keep pressing Triangle until it was over...YAY! I cheat!

Apart from that, looks great, I look forward to it actually, It looks pretty unique and the battle system interests me. I've only played the demo of Drakenguard once, so I don't know what to expect, even though I don't have either consoles its appearing on.
If you like what you are reading here you are should take a look at the official website of this game if you haven't already. They display lot's of screenshots and better character profiles than what i've listed. The background music is also good. Had to listen to that a few times. ;D
