Conquest is made from the ashes of one's enemies.

In case you haven't noticed, we are reversing many of the forum changes that occurred in January, 2011. The primary reason for this is because the off-topic forums became stagnant after the changes, probably because the General Discussion forum became overly cluttered. The changes should make the forums more organized and relevant to each individual's interests.
I like the name changes for the remade topics. Very nice!

i really think from here on out we should just not complain about things. ever.
after thinking the best rm site was gonna go down, i could care less if one part of the site is dedicated to roflretards and attention hogs

let them all do it there, instead of spilling over into EVERY other part of this site

i love all the name changes/fourm (re)additions, snazzy!
you couldn't care less. if you could care less that means you care at least a bit. idk how many times i'm going to explain this but i'll carry on until i stop hearing that saying haha.
i'm not one of those 'stop butchering our language!' people, but you're saying the opposite of what you mean!

anyway, it's a welcome surprise, i like it better this way :)

david mitchell's soap box, brought to you by bulldog: natural skin care for men!
frustrated english people: brought to you by americans

could care less has been around in the US since at least the 60s. descriptive linguistics B)

it's funny how this is followed with variously getting the UNITED KINGDOM and the KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN wrong!

Is it similar to the "all but something"? I never understood that one. Does "I am all but dead" mean that I am nearly dead (everything has happened to get me closer to death except death itself) or does it mean that I am as far from dead that you can be? (I am a lot of things but I most certainly am not dead)

it means you are literally as close to death as it is possible to be without being dead. the idea is pretty much that everything bad has happened to you... apart from actual death. obviously it is used as an exaggeration and isn't meant to be literal
But I've also heard it used as meaning the opposite. Basically making "all but dead" mean the same as "far from dead". I don't know what nationality the speakers were or if they just were dumb and used expressions they didn't know the meaning of though.

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

Guys, isn't this topic about the forum changes, rather than the meaning of idioms in the English language? However 'I could care less', though it sounds good, means the opposite and 'I'm all but dead' is used to say almost dead, though actually you'd think it means the opposite.

I could be wrong, though, since I'm not a native speaker. XD
welp welp forum you say?

well i say... :3
*slaps all of you "welp"ers*

Wow, looks like people finally get back what was popular.
When will the screenshot topic return? ;-)

welp.
didn't think me saying "i could care less" would generate so much discussion.
i've never really thought about it, and now the more I say it the more it loses its meaning entirely.

i don't think i'll ever change the way I say it, people understand what i mean.
AND I COULD CARE LESS WHAT PEOPLE THINK
:D
