DOES ANYONE STILL PLAY DOTA?
Posts
TF is awesome, ulti+stun card, great ganker, or you can pick off the champs that try to escape with only a little health.
In early level games (1-10), Karthus is great hero, his global damage ulti can HURT if he is fed.
Mind you, useful heroes/builds change as you go up in levels, what worked against noobies in early levels wont probably work at level 30, or in ranked games.
I remember, when they finally introduced EU servers, I had to start again, after having level 30 on US, I even had some skins for my favourite champs... but the lags in US really screw me over, and EU I get 60ms+-, which is just awesome :D
Anyways, as I started again from level 1, I as experienced player was faced against noobies, which resulted in me getting incredible scores, getting fed, and causing rage in the opposing team.... couldnt be helped though, I had to play from the start :D
But I know some people create new low-level accounts just to "pwn tha noobz", which isnt very nice....

Started playing LoL since I learned that I could play under the name Natook with a different username.
Gotta say, the community is pretty bad for the most part. Last game I played this guy wanted to solo in the mid and nooo other guy got their first, and they bickered forever. And SmileWithStyle is right, there's a lot of people with the "pwn tha noobz" mentality who have made new accounts. Luckily I've had some experience with these types of games so I can roll with the better guys for the most part. (unless I'm Shen, just not my play style at allll. <3 Warwick)

Iunno, it's a pretty rare thing when I meet anyone like that. There was one guy who was like that, and beating him was suuuuper satisfying. Most of us muted him in-game, and added him to our "perma-avoid" list after the game.
I avoid Mid theatrics by playing characters who don't need to go there. Lots of carries and other item heavy guys need mid so they can get the gold they need.
Yeah people arguing about who goes mid is pretty funny, many people just wanna solo in the game it seems. The best situation is when I play Sivir or Anivia, who are both made for mid, but there are 2 other people arguing who goes there, so I just give up... People forget that this is a TEAM game, often doing things that benefit THEM instead of the whole team. But thats just the community in these kind of games.
A little sorry to the thread creator that this turned into more of a LoL thread than DotA :D But imho, DotA is dead, 2 better alternatives and approaching DotA 2.....

Even then you shouldn't stay in one lane for too long; gotta mix it up a lot. I think I stay in one lane until about level 6 and then I'm all over the place.

Certain heroes benefit from being in one lane, some benefit from roaming.
For example, in Heroes of Newerth, Sand Wraith (Spectre in DotA) is a hard carry (hard to beat late game) but requires farm (lots of money.) He is best placed in the short lane (Top for Hellbourne, bottom for Legion) and left to last-hit and deny for a huge level advantage and money advantage. This can be done solo or with a partner, but regardless, he should never leave that lane unless its to kill a hero with his ultimate, or win the game. Literally.
Then there are heroes like Magmus (Sand King in DotA) or Pebbles (Tiny in DotA) who do exceptionally well as a solo-mid hero. The reason for them to solo mid is so that they can get a quick farm and level advantage over the side lanes. As soon as they hit level 6, they should be going between lanes, and using their abilities (Avalanche/Throw combo with Pebbles, Ultimate+Portal Key/Stun combo with Magmus) to kill heroes. Because they have on average a two-level advantage, the heroes they are killing are often able to be one-shot with these combos, and will suffer greatly because the ganker (Magmus/Pebbles) will get lots of EXP and Money from the kill, which they use to hold an advantage, and the heroes that die stay at a disadvantage. Done often enough to the same 1-2 heroes, you can effectively reduce the game to a 5v4/3.
Most heroes are capable of Soloing mid, but some benefit from it so much more than others it is sickening.
