ARE REMAKES OF COMMERCIAL GAMES ALLOWED?

I'm not sure if this belongs in this section if not someone please move it to where it should be.

I would first like to say this is not a complaint about my game being rejected. I have scrapped the project a few months after it was rejected and not because it was rejected, due to management issues.

So, I've noticed there is a remake of breath of fire II. Which surprised me because I once tried to submit a remake of a commercial game and it got rejected because it was a remake of a commercial game. So are commercial games allowed now? The game I submitted was rejected about a year ago, so maybe things have changed when deciding what games are allowed on the site. I also want to note my game was not a complete remake as the battle system was revamped and the game was more of an rpg-style. I still got the following message denying my game.

Reason: Due to the nature of this project being nearly a straight remake of a commercial game, I'm afraid we can't accept it.

Here was the info on my game page.

Game Info:
The game's story is follows the same as LA. This game will almost be exactly the same as LA. Except for the fact it's an rpg. If you have ever played the first paper mario then you will notice the combat system is very similar.

Again this is not a rant/complaint. I would just like to know if remakes are allowed for future games I might want to work on and submit here.

Edit: The reason and Game Info are copy/pasted from my submissions page, they are not altered in any way.
Remakes and fangames are allowed on the site, though they tend to get rejected quicker if they look bad. I can't speak for yours (it has been a long time) but it might have been a combination of quality concerns. The Breath of Fire 2 game skates by on being an attempt to improve the original game.

Additionally, the game info you provided is not nearly substantial enough and tells us absolutely nothing. That might be another reason.
Ya , but I had a trailer and like 4-5 pictures showcasing some of the game. Also I don't see how it could look bad since its some what of a remake so things looked the same as the actual game except for some parts which were modified or changed.

Anyways, you answered my question. Let me see if I understand you; exact remakes are not allowed, but if you add/improve the remake its allowed?
