Im thinking of importing one from the USA ($100 cheaper...) and wanted to know, who here has one, and is it worth getting.

I think I'm interested in buying a 3DS once some more games come out- I'll probably only feel really compelled if there's some really good 3DS games that I feel will become hard to find and purchase in 1-2 years- maybe the SMT DS remake? I bought a DSi XL and I love that big screen, and I'm still unconvinced that buying a newer, smaller system (with pop-out graphics!) is somehow an upgrade for me.
I've read a couple news articles complaining that the 3-D effects can be a little irritating and that folks prefer to turn them down or off, and that the 3DS battery has a small battery life and takes a long time to charge... I'm betting on waiting 2-3 years for Nintendo to release a newer 3DS, at least with a better battery life or some other perks I can't think of right now.

Hahaha, yeah, pretty much my reaction to hearing of ANOTHER Ocarina of Time release. Maybe they'll make this a special version where you not only play as Young and Adult Link, but must also team up with Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario in order to take down Bowser!!

it's not a rerelease of ocarina of time, it's a actual remakeREMASTER. i'm pretty pumped for it, especially if it means that sometime down the road we might get a darker remake of Majora's Mask. but hey, maybe i'm dreaming too hard with that one.

What do you mean, ANOTHER Ocarina of Time release? The only other release was on the masterquest thing, which was a promotion.
I'll probably get the 3DS once they release the inevitable better 2nd Generation version of the 3DS. (You know, like the Gameboy Advance SP, or the DS Lite, or the DSiXL, etc)

They are region locked so i'm not sure if the games in your region will work on a US model

I have a 3ds and I must say I was quite disappointed. You have to hold it at an exact angle to see the 3d correctly, playing with the 3d slider helps, but not much. Not to mention it's impossible to play games that use the gyroscope with the 3d effect. The gyroscope is a motion sensor built into the 3ds that lets you move the 3ds for additional controls, it's like when you play a driving game on the iphone and you tilt it to steer. An example of a game that can't be played with 3d and the gyroscope is Super Monkey Ball 3d, luckily the gyroscope is optional in that game. If it weren't for the games that are coming out for this system, I wouldn't have bothered buying it.

it was actually released several times on the gamecube, and i believe it's on virtual console now? i could be mistaken on that last one- i don't do VC stuff at all.
there was the masterquest/normalOoT port- i think this came through some sort of nintendo power promotional deal. i have it, but can't really remember how i got it.
you could get the same thing if you preordered wind waker- it came in a special box and everything. i didn't bother preordering windwaker because i already had the standalone masterquest disc.
then there was the Zelda Collector's Edition disc that had the original Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2, OoT, and Majora's Mask. this one was another nintendo power promotion- i have it too, and it's one of my favourite releases on the gamecube. it even includes a shitty demo of wind waker!

In Japanland, I'll picking one up for Layton when I have the 30,000 yen lying around. Also thinking of waiting in case a newer version comes out with a longer battery life.
Complaining about OoT seems dumb because you know there's about a millions of people who're happy as all hell that they're putting it on the 3DS. Seems like a smart move. I won't buy it as well.
