RPG Maker 2003 Test Play Error Topic

So I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and now, when I try to play RPG Maker 2003 titles I get this error:

Anyone want to lend a guy a hand? Please tell me it doesn't mean no more RM2k3 for me =(

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Tried reinstalling DirectX and my graphics card's drivers, still getting the error

Are you running in XP Compatibility mode for the .exe?

Does it work if you play in windowed mode (not fullscreen)? if yes, are you running two graphics cards with crossfire?

I have the same problem and from what I've gathered (and tried) it's because of crossfire. I can still play rm2k/3 games in windowed mode but I have to deactivate crossfire on CCC if I want to play fullscreen. This problem also arises when testplaying VX games.

Because regularely people have problems with fullscreen, I created a tool called "AnotherFullscreenMode", which allows you to play any RM2k(3) game in fullscreen without changing the resolution - the image will be scaled. Additionally, you can use filters (Scale2x and hq2x) for a better quality.

First, start your game (in windowed mode!!!). Then start AnotherFullscreenMode. By pressing F6 you can switch between fullscreen and windowed mode, F7 shows or hides the FPS.

Using F8, you can set the filter: none -> Scale2x -> hq2x
