CloseI'm playing pokémon black. I entered that cave with electric pokémon and save right before it. I beat the cave, arrived at the next city, fought a little, etc, etc. In this inbetween, I must have saved 2 or 3 times. I closed the game, and when I reopened, the last save was just before the cave, I had lost progress.
1 - Is this error common?
2 - Can I prevent it?

You are using a pirated copy of Black and white most likely. Either the offical cart you bought was a cheap pirated copy, or you downloaded the unpatched version of the rom.
If using a flash cart: Just download a copy with the anti piracy patch installed.
If using a bought cart: You're out of luck, go and buy a new cart from somewhere. Used carts from gamestop have been proven pirates before.

I'm using a cart, not a flash cart. And I really don't think it's a pirated version. I bought it from a renowned store, and paid a lot for it. It only happened once.

Alright, I've been surfing around and I found another reason for this: Save Corruption and Backup Save. It is rather simple and rare occurrence, but there is a chance that saving over and over again, just corrupted your save and it loaded a previous save to protect your progress. This glitch was common on Ruby and Sapphire version of pokemon, and there is no fix. Don't worry though, your game should be fine then, as this is just a failure to write the data to the nds memory.
