[RM2K3] INSUFFICIENT MEMORY TO CREATE STREAM

I wonder if this bug happens at certain points during the game, if so it's the game itself. If it happens at random points for different people then it's possible that they have some hardware issues that is causing this bug, and you are at no fault. In some rare cases, if you build an RM2K3 game with a ton of resources, or over do your mapping (with lots of movement characters, like a river using character sets ect ect.) the players computer will have a hard time compensating and usually crash.

I've found that having too many events sometimes cause this problem, as RM2K3 was meant to have large amounts of events, but not at the thousands scale per map. Again, this is not the fault of the creator, as you probably have a computer that can handle it. Though there are some out there still using old IBM's with windows 2000.

Another reason this might be happening is with the Windows 7, as I'm not sure RM2K3 will run to par with this new OS. Though I have yet to test Windows 7 with RM2K3, I'm unsure if this may be an issue.
Windows 7 wasn't even out when this bug first occurred (in fact, I am not sure if Vista was even out yet. The first reported occurrence happened back in 2006 iirc).

Both games have some Common Events running as parallel processes. But then, so did Hellion and Generica, but I haven't heard of this bug happening to them. And I would have used the same RPG_RT.exe and editor to make those games.

I don't think it is an overload of events, but it could be (not sure how to rule that out!)

Also, it was random points for different people, including myself.

The biggest issue I am facing is that I cannot recreate the bug! I don't know what triggers it.

kitten managed to do it though! Maybe she can download cherry's patches and try recreating the bug again.

I tried to recreate it myself by playing Runelords, but I got past the point she did and still didn't encounter the bug.

IT BE CURSED!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh hhhhh hhhh hh hh h h!

(Ahem) Kidding aside, you've got one hell of a mystery on your hands, I'll look through Hero, and see if I come up with anything.

Sorry, haven't been on in a while; will do this when I get home to see if this helps out further. :)

Okay.

You could try:
0) Back up your project
1) Download this and patch your rpg_rt.exe with it
2) Download this and copy harmony.dll and rtversion.dll into your project.
Someone please explain to me how to work these... Just simply plop the .dll files in there or do I actually have to run something? 0.o I don't do 2k3, so this is new for me.

EDIT:
I'm now getting a "Can't load Harmony.dll" error... -.-
Hm, sure both DLL files are in the project, where rpg_rt.exe is located?

Yeah, now I did however run the "ForceHarmoney.exe" and told it to patch Runelords' "RPG_RT.exe" file.

Did I do that wrong...?
No, that's right... Okay, delete the DLL files, and use this installer instead: http://uglyhorst.de/rPG%20Maker/patches/Disharmony%20Setup.exe
Not sure if this helps, but just suffered from the same bug, and I know how to fix it. The memory overflow/crash occurs when the pc can't handle all of the system event. System events being stuff like common events, heros, items, stuff like that. If you have too many Heros, or items, hell even battle animations when it calls on them or references them in the code it causes windows to shit itself. Hope that helps. I personally removed some of the spare and unused events and it fixed my problems.
Good find. How many would you say is too many? A thousand? And do you mean spread out altogether over all of the main database, or just in one section, like Items?
Well I don't have more than 50 items, 80 heroes, 150 battle animations and 500 common events so far and everything runs well.
