CODING TO MAKE A PLATFORMING SHOOTER GAME IN GAME MAKER 8

I have never used Game Maker, but it is the only software I know about that I can use to make a platforming shooter game, similar to Pixel Force: Halo. I'm also looking for someone to help me do graphics, because I'm literally the worst artist I've ever met. EVER. I would prefer to have free assistance, but I am dedicated to this idea, thus, I am willing to discuss payment.
