WHICH GAME WAS THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTEMENT FOR YOU?

Daikatana:
Could have been so fine. The levels looked nice at that time, the weapons were creative and cool. The AI was stupid as hell but it would not have mattered if there hadnt been all those stupid jump & run moments.

Sad is: this game could have been so fine, so much wasted potential.

I had to say it, not because its a unbalanced or a bad fighter I just generally don't like ultra rushdown type fighters, of course I never liked the MvC series but the fighting game nerd in me forced me to buy it. Had a good time with it and got pretty decent but its one of those fighters you get into for a bit and then never pick up again, yes the last bit is in regards to me. Also I have to agree with TFT, if you understand the game mechanics behind MvC3 then there would be no way a simple button masher could even lay a hand on you. Some people are just bad at fighters, as I am with racing games. (save for mario kart!)

tired, must sleep.

lol are you kidding me dude? no if you go into a ranked match no human being who just picks up the game and button slams is going to beat like, a 5th lord.

this game is balanced if you're decent, if you're a terrible player then yeah, it's going to suck(this applies to a lot of stuff) because you will get chained the whole time because you do not understand the dynamics of block or assist.

it ain't broken homie, lmao. i think you just got teabagged by dante a few too many times. if people are letting you x factor, they're awful.

I guess if you're some sort of spastic freak that's used to playing video games at unnatural speeds and have the ability to input buttons combinations flawlessly, then yeah, you'd enjoy MvC3.

Problem is, I'm not like that. The game plays way too fast for me; I can't keep up. That's why it feels broken to me. And, yes, I know how to block and I know how to assist, but my brain doesn't react as fast as the game plays, which is why I can never pull out those things fast enough. If you screw up at all, their's no forgiveness, especially if you're playing against an elite player (which I have, and yes I was being juggled the entire time and I couldn't get out of it).

Don't get me wrong, MvC is a beautiful game and I like it...but for all the wrong reasons. Like, the game's presentation is phenomenal, the music gets you pumped up and everything--I still have some of the character theme's on my iPod. But the combat is the reason I don't play it more than I do (which, recently, isn't at all).

I'm okay at the game, but I'm not a hardcore, badass player. MvC3 was made for the elite, hardcore fighting-game players, which I am not. I just wish it didn't actually take me shelling out $60-ish to figure that out. I'll just stick to my SSF4 and my MK9.

I agree with him, too, it's just like I said above: MvC3's playstyle is not for me. I understand the mechanics, I just can't perform them. It's to chaotic. I didn't know this at all before I bought it and I got really hyped up for the game anyway, which was why is was a big disappointment to me.

give me your xbox live account name, i need to show you the power of sentinel......

I would, just to get on and show to you how bad I am at the game, but, unfortunately, I don't have XBL.

I try not to get hyped for upcoming games.

Me, neither. If it draws my interest, I play it...hopefully I'll end up pleasantly surprised by the experience.

Unlimited Saga: Once again, a possibly good game is relegated to the shit heap because of unclear direction, and no tutorials. Once you finally understand how everything works enough to play the game, you'll discover it's so boring you'll wonder why you wanted to learn in the first place.

Heroes of Mana: A mediocre game made terrible by atrocious pathing problems, and bad ai. The spiritual sequel, Blue Dragon Plus, fixes this by taking away all your units so you only have to manage about 4 at a time.

Final Fantasy X-2: been said.

Alone in the Dark, the latest one.
I avoid getting to hyped on a game. Still, White Knight Chronicles ended up disappointing me.

The first disappointment was the combat system. I did realize that this was to good to be true. The characters blocked and dodged in a way that would fail under a lot of conditions.

However, then came some gameplay videos from gamespot demonstrating the combat system. Those videos were very believable, you could even see things like AI characters getting stuck behind objects or staring blankly at nowhere while the controlled character was cutting an enemy open.

Well, in those videos you could see the main character use various combos on the enemies. They didn't look realistic in any way or shape, but it looked fun to use them. The problem is that in actuality, you don't fight that way. Normally you you just spam the same move over and over. When you built up enough AP, then you can use a combo, as opposed to always using combos like the videos showed. To this day I still don't know why they didn't let us use combos all the time and balance the game accordingly instead of making the combos some sort of supermove. Heck, it's not as if that game is balanced as it is anyway.

Combat also turned out to be slow. You attack and then you wait for maybe three seconds for a circle to fill up before you can attack again.

The other problem is the story. They said they would go for a simple and in many ways, old-fashioned, story. I approved of that since when it comes to story, I definitely think it's better to aim low and hit the mark than aiming high and miss. Well, they aimed low, but still missed by a mile. The story is not just simple, it's downright idiotic.
The original Kingdom Hearts. Everyone seems to love it but it seemed dull to me. I played up to the final boss fights out of a sense of obligation rather than enjoyment; the final boss fights were so cheap that I drew the line there.

In general though I am rarely disappointed with my gaming investments :)
Donkey Kong 64 was a big disappointment for. The thing was that DK country had set the expectations for a DK game so fucking high... well especially the graphics were very poor to me. I didn't get why stuff like that even needed the Expansion Pack.
I bit my ass then for not spending the money for Zelda Majora's Mask instead...

Hmm, reminds me of my run through Neverwinter Nights 2...

I guess mine would have to be Crysis 2.. A friend gave it to me and I can see why.
Once you get past the graphics there is a lot of consolization built into the game and apparently Crytek never bothered to reconfigure the game for PC users. Controls are odd (although, pressing Q or E to activate armor or stealth is pretty useful in certain situations.) and they've completely removed any reason to use the suit power selection wheel thingy (although it's still there).

I know Crysis and Crysis: WH were linear, but they had at least one side mission on some levels whereas I don't see any of this in Crysis 2.

And the fact that the game now has to hold the player's hand, Crytek added the Strategic Mode (IDK what it's called, been too long since i've played) that pretty much tells you where to go to get the drop on enemy soldiers when it's easier to take them head on.

As for the graphics, I just wish PC users had more of a choice in what they were doing instead of Low, Medium, High, Very High.

Upside is I got it for free off of a friend :3
I haven't liked any games since ps2. And even then they were just "ok."

I was really excited for Donkey Kong Country returns... but I was bored when I got it. And don't even get me started on Kirby's Epic Yarn... uhg no powers... uhg.

I haven't liked a FF game since 9. I didnt like 8 much, it was fun, but it was too easy. FF3, not 6, is my favorite. The NES one, not the ds one.

I guess I just don't like new games. Gimme my snes and a weekend as a 10 year old again and I'll be the happiest person ever! Give me a ps2 and being a teenager and Ill just be bored as hell.

I am kinda excited for Skyrim though... but meh... I dont even know when its coming out lol.
