WHAT'S YOUR JOB ?

If I made/played games as a job, I don't think I would enjoy making/playing games as much as a hobby... as strange as that sounds.
Paralegal, and it's making me miserable.
I'll start looking for a new job in a few months. Only there for the experience.

That said, working in a video games company probably beats a lot of alternatives...
Don't really have much to contribute to this topic as I'm but a measly student (transitioning from one awful degree to a hopefully slightly better one). I hate the idea of a 9-to-5 job though, and am hoping to either start my own business or work freelance in the IT industry (aah teenage ambition). Wouldn't mind a research position either - something to do with robotics would be nice (or bioinformatics now that I think about it - always had an interest in natural sciences).
im also a student; ive had some minor jobs here and there but i know i have to do something creative for a living and even though im a pretty terrible artist, its the only thing i excel at (except talking bullshit but i hate politics so that's out) so im thinking some kind of graphical design. we have a couple of decent schools for that here and if i finish one of those (and actually get good) i will try to get a job (basically anywhere) and if not, continue studying abroad
Since separating from the US Air Force I have been unemployed and hopefully will remain so while pursuing an education in mechanical engineering for the next few years. The GI Bill combined with savings should provide enough in the mean time.
I'm about to start my senior year of High School, and I was planning on going to college for Computer Science. A career in the video game industry is an option for me, but I wouldn't really consider it unless I get into a college like Digipen or similar.

Good stuff! I'm finishing up my mechanical engineering degree this August, and will soon be starting my full-time employment hunt. Watch out for heat transfer and fluid mechanics. Those courses are killer.
Most recently, I was an underwriter for high net worth home insurance (basically saying "Yes, they can add that £210,000 ring to their policy, but only if they upgrade the safe, adhere to a personal custody and jewellery overhaul clause and we load the pricing for that item by 100%), then the missus got very homesick, we moved out to Oxfordshire last week and we're living with my father-in-law. She's gone back to her old job and I'm browsing the wanted ads.
I'm a freeloadin' high school student with a part time job for a few more years, but I spend most of my time playing cheap gigs with my band. After high school, I'm shooting to become a writer.(College first though!) Been published a few times for short fiction and poetry, but my passion is novels.
I'm a grad student in history who has research funding. What I'd like to do though, is start an independent film production company.
I'm a self employed co-director of Flash-based games company Megadev Games Ltd., being the artist/games designer for the team. It's been my job for nearly three years now, and at the moment we are developing a game for our new best friends Adult Swim, who are really awesome and pay us on time for our work.
By the way, whoever said you lose interest in playing games once you start working on them... totally on the mark! Though I still do play games, so it's not like it's a total killjoy or anything. Unless you worked in QA, in which case say goodbye to any enthusiasm you had for the next gen of consoles or anything like that.

I'm studying math and physics to major in engineering.
However, right now I'm working as a typesetter.

If I told you people, the FBI would barge into your houses and question you on what you know then come to my house and arrest me for being a "traitor" to the nation.
Oh, and no, I'm not joking...
But, other than the not sharing ability of my job, I LOVE it!!
(Oh, and the blasted freakin' suicide alerts I deal with... >.< A bad way to start a Monday.)
