I FEEL LIKE HAVING A GO AT "LET'S TRY" VIDEOS
Posts
So it's over, is it? Then I'll address whatever is left!
-Like I said above: Perhaps it may have given the impression that a "true" game was going to start and you'd be given a "proper" intro and what-not, but in fact that WAS the introduction! It just continues from there on to the end of the game. Eternal Paradise is a dungeon crawler, and could honestly be described as a MASSIVE final dungeon. The game IS self-contained, but it requires investment to try and really get what is going on with the characters. The MAIN focus for me was the enemy encounters and bosses, which are what people praise most in the majority of my projects.
I am going to make a prequel in the future expanding upon the four heroes adventure before reaching Venaitura, but that will be AFTER I finish DF: Venaitura II and DF: Origins.
I do agree that it was a weird way to start a game, and I knew that I'd fudged things up when I'd completed it the first time around, but couldn't really do much about it unless I wanted to redesign the ENTIRE game. I didn't, so I just re-wrote and re-worked the battles, script, etc. for this newer and final version.
-You pronounce Venaitura as "Ven-eye-chu-rah."
-I had to just laugh every time you expected to go back and truly "start" the game.
-The bosses and enemies are the main attraction of this game, if not the storyline. They're all challenging and require preparation, which starts on the Chimera II boss encounter. I know that he's a tad difficult for such an early boss, but he's definitely possible to defeat (according to myself and my testers). I'm sure you would have if I hadn't lead you to believe the game was making you walk through a MASSIVE dream sequence or something. Lol.
His first attack "Inhale/Readying!" is basically a notification to GET READY AND DEFEND!!! which he uses before the "Breath/Wind" attack. Sadly you were one of the unlucky ones (go figure) who had it happen twice in a row.
You definitely do not have to grind or anything to beat the game, but fight enemies regularly. In fact the problem I've had is with people OVER-LEVELING before they even reach the half-way point, and ending up at Lv.90~
-I ALSO had to laugh because you ended the LP at the EXACT same place YDS did! Looool. Ah ha ha ha. But this was leagues better, and by-far the best LP it's received. It was a nice watch, and I'm glad that you decided to at least try it out. I'm thankful for that much, in the very least! And good work. I'm hoping to see more LPs from you in the future! =)

Glad to know that you enjoyed it!
And yeah, if the start didn't give off that whole Chrono Cross/Lufia vibe of playing a future event and such, I probably would've had an easier time with the game. The way in which you started the game was unlike anything I've played before with the party being such high levels right off the bat and what not, so I was just waiting the entire time for some kind of flashback to the real intro or something.
Your game definitely isn't bad and I think it's really quite well made, but the way in which the story is delivered isn't what I'm used to at all and I find it difficult to follow a story if it's not from the beginning (like reading a book from chapter 1 rather than chapter 20).
I didn't even notice what the first attack was by Chimera II to be honest! I was looking at the party members and missed the window box up top, so I just saw the monster shaking violently which made me go "WTF?" Ohhhh, if only I had known.
I'll start with another game tomorrow most likely.

Actually I like how the story started off. The fact it isn't common, and people aren't used to it, makes it something quite unique.
I think I will try Resident Evil: After History next, but only because of the amusing comments made about it on page 1.
I love this idea. Especially if you focus on game's that don't have as many reviews or haven't been played by many people in the community.
uprc, could you LT the Super Doki Doki World demo? We'll have it up very soon. It's the first two worlds. Pretty challenging and lengthy levels - probably a solid 30-40 minutes of gameplay.
With Mario games more than anything, a visual guide of another player going through the levels really helps. Kentona and I are both ace Mario players, so we may amp things up a bit too much...

Is it made in SMBX? I can't get Fraps to work with that.

So are you still doing these?
I want to, but I'm not really using the computer too much at the moment unless I have to (such as right now, I am at work). Any future Let's Try videos, as well as my games, are pretty much on hiatus right now until I sort out some health issues that I'm currently dealing with.
