RM2K3 BATTLE SYSTEM HELP

Just recently I started using rm2k3. The problem being I don't like the battle system it currently uses. Could someone please help with something more along the lines of a standard turn based battle system. I don't really want to hit with one character twice in a row or be hit twice in a row by one enemy if that makes more sense.
It's hard to shrug off the atb. You can set the battles to (wait) in the regular menu to make it so the battle doesn't go on while you're selecting skills. The agi between the monsters and heros determine the bar speed (ie if it's one hero vs 3 monsters the hero's atb will go slower compared to just fighting one monster). I would probably go with rpg maker xp/vx if you want more control (as by default they're turn based battles).
You can use RM2k or RMVX which both have a default battle system like you've described. However, if you want something original and/or in RM2k3, you'd have to make a CBS and no one can really give you step-by-step instructions for that kind of thing.
Alright thanks for the quick responses. Now to figure out where to go next seeing as that didn't pan out.

how hard would it be to make one with events? just curious
Very hard, I would not suggest it to even someone average at RPG Maker. You have to take a lot of things into consideration like programming monster ai, showing hp values/damage values, turns, etc. All very intuitively. There's a reason you picked up RPG Maker, and it's not to program a battle system from scratch.
Well, there is the Revolution Patch. One of its features is to make the battle system turn-based. I am still working on it, but there is a working demo without ATB: http://share.cherrytree.at/showfile-1900/tbbpatch_demo.rar
