FILE SIZE HELP

I'm having a little trouble with my games file size. Its kinda...big. I've seen some completed games that have a much smaller filesizes than mine, currently its 41 MB, its a very small demo and its doesn't have all that much resources (to me), so I can't see wheres thats coming from.

Are there any tips that could help me? is there a common mistake that I could be doing wrong? I've already cut out a few resources.

...I'm also wondering what people consider as a big game file size. I've seen people refusing to download a full game at 70/60 MB. I orginally didn't think that was big.
One big killer is the type of music files. A lot of MP3s can really eat up filesize. 41 isnt that big to me, but that is just my opinion. Truthfully, the only way to shrink it without changing resources is to erase any extraneous resourced you may have in there (but it sounds like you already did that so...)
Did you make it with the built-in install maker? If so, RTP files are being included, and that would jack up the file size. Also, check ,as Quiversee said, what the music file types are.

If you didn't make it using the built in install-maker, then try compressing it as a zip, or RAR file. If the file size is still large, download a free install creator, and that should reduce the file size.

Me, I would download a game that size :)
I wouldn't worry about it. I would much rather listen to mp3s than midis while I am playing. I just bought a 500GB external from Fry's for $115.00. Disk space is cheap.
I'd doubt anybody would download a 150+ MB game. (That's mine, full with resources that are, yes, used)

But my tip is to use WinRAR (found on my tutorial inside RM2k/3 tutorials), and convert it into a .rar file. It significantly decreases total file size, but players must have WinRAR to extract the files. (Basically why myersguy said.)

EDIT: 150MB has been reduced to 84.9 MB.
Yeah, the music tends to be the one that expands the files size. But yeah, try decreasing the file size using winrar as that seems to be a very popular program everyone uses.
I really don't understand why people would not download a 150MB game. That is not a lot of memory. You can always delete the thing. If the game is good, it will be downloaded. What does the average desktop hard drive amount to, like 160GB? C'mon, 150MB is pultry.
Mine and those of everyone I know holds around 30GB. Still 150 MB isnt much in comparison, but it is larger than the average RPG Maker game by a lot.

150MB is acceptable when that space is being used wisely. Including the entire FF4 soundtrack in MP3 format is not wise. Yes I have seen it before.

As for any solutions to this problem, if you are using MP3s for music, you will probably be reusing a lot of those. The resource cost on the download might be large, but it won't grow too much as the game progresses.

sometimes it's not just the memory. People might only have dial up internet or if they have broadband it might go really slow. Downloading a file that is that big can either be impossible for people with dial up or it could take 1 or 2 hours. People may not want to download something that big especially if the game turns out to be poor. I know i wouldn't.
