FAVOURITE GAME REVIEWER?

Hi there, yet another of my question threads : Who's your favourite game reviewer (if you read/watch any)?

To start it off, I really like reviews by:

- Classic Game Room (HD), namely the recent ones, the guy has great accent, manages to make me laugh sometimes, and it's obvious he likes games a lot.

- Zero Punctuation, reviews done in quite a unique way. Almost always cracks me up when he's reviewing some game I played. One little problem is that there is no really punctuation, so it's sometimes hard to understand, especially when english isn't your native language

- RPGFan Reviews, I found a lot of great games just by browsing the reviews, sorted by rating

What's yours?
Yahtzee is probably a bit of fun. I also follow Twenty Sided and whenever Shamus Young writes something reviewish I like to read it. The guys on RPS generally write excellent reviews too. (or "Wot I Think"s)

It might be that it's one of the RPSers that also write on Eurogamer but I've read a couple of really good reviews there at least. But I don't actually tend to know the reviewers by name. (though sometimes when looking through archives I find that it's the same writer that writes the good reviews)

Generally when casually reading reviews I tend to go for the mid-tier scores. Often the 10/10 have very little interesting things to say about what a game is actually like and instead just praise the game and how awesome it is without telling me anything. Similarily with really low-scoring reviews they're usually just a gigantic bash-fest without much meat on them bones. The best reviews are those in the middle that carefully lay out the problems of the games and you as the player can make a proper judgement if the sucky things about a game is something you can live with or not.
I don't usually read "professional" reviews, I prefer seeing gameplay footage or renting a game first(or demo).

In terms of RMN, my favorite reviewer is probably Little Wing Guy. I like his format, he fully explains himself in a light-hearted way, and after you read his reviews you have a pretty overall sense of what the game is like without any major spoilers.

For a second, I thought you meant on RMN. (Clicked from the main page latest posts, not the forum index.)

That'd be a fascinating topic.

Anyway, I am pretty darn ambivalent about this.
GameTrailers has excellent video reviews that are very fair and reasonable.

Yahtzee is pretty good too. Of course he's funny, but he never fails to really criticize a game's bad points which is good to see.
GameTrailers.

(Of course, we do have this guy who isn't half bad)

I thought the same as Max McGee.
And ironically enough, I'd vote for Max McGee. xD

While I am on this forum for the general talk about games (don't know much about the RMN community/games itself), I don't see a reason why you couldn't post some of your favourite RMN reviewers too, it still stays true to the topic.

And I might check them out if some of them also review commercial games (really don't know much about the RMN ones, know only a few rpgmaker games).

Yahtzee is hilarious, isn't afraid to use colorful language, and hits all the right points.

He's also one of the few brit commonwealthers on earth who don't regularly say some form of "america sux lol" with every other breath they take. I'm looking at you, Escapist forums.
experience is my favorite reviewer :P

seriously though, i have a different taste in games than some and can't rely on others to pick what i'm going to like/dislike.
It's obvious that if you are looking for Mario fan-game reviews, Ben_Random is the worst writer of the century.
Despite that 90% of the games he reviews are VERY OLD PC games, Phreakindee does a top-notch job with his "Lazy Game Reviews."

Does the Angry Video Game Nerd count?

I like both him and Yahtzee.
