MEGA MAN LEGENDS 3 GOT CANCELLED, Y'ALL

For those of you who don't know, development for Mega Man Legends 3 had finally begun after so many years of waiting from the fans. Now, I was never a big MML fan (I used to have the first one; never played the second), but I was looking forward to play MML3.

Then THIS happened. =(

I just wonder WHY it was cancelled, you know. Same goes for Mega Man Universe, which was supposed to be a downloadable game for Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network.

All this tells me is that Mega Man's life as a franchise just might be dwindling; I hope it never dies, though. Need I remind everyone that my favorite franchise of all time is Mega Man.

What do you folks think of this?

Man, I was really disappointed when I heard this :( I was actually gonna get a 3DS to play this (since Legends 1 & 2 were the only games in the Megaman series I actually enjoyed) and now they just pulled the plug.
Well, that blows...

EDIT: I feel like Megaman Legend had a pretty solid fanbase so I'm not sure why they're doing this, especially since Megaman is Capcom's star child, just as Mario is to Nintendo.

I realise I hate Capcom now. I've been waiting for this game since my youth, I was excited, and now they've crushed my dreams. Mega Man is dead. Ah, to think, my first game ever was Mega Man X, good times, good times.

Breath of Fire more or less died with Dragon Quarter (which is sad to me), and the future of Devil May Cry is on shaky ground (at best). Now, you're telling me that Mega Man may also be going out? What does Capcom have left anymore? Street Fighter (which I never was attracted to in the first place), and Resident Evil?
Wait, aren't we the same people that complain that companies never seem to create new IPs or try new things in games?

Not gonna lie I'm more upset about this. I hadn't thought to look into it until this very wiki link! Hoarding the gay lawyer dramas in Japan makes me sad.

I will confess to having never played a Mega Man game.

That pretty much seems to be the case. Those two franchises have been getting too much publicity as of late. They should be utilizing their other franchises.

What's that you say, Capcom? Mega Man is too kiddy and cartoony for the real world to take seriously? How about a realistic, dark, and gritty Mega Man game? No, I've seriously fantasized about that before. =I
I've been a fan of Mega Man since the original days on the NES. I remember just how big and popular the little blue boy used to be back in the days, what with the TV show and millions of games all over various consoles...now, I just don't know what to think anymore. And with this latest piece of bad news, Capcom has basically betrayed almost 90% of its fan base with this move to pull the plug from under everybody's nose, just when things were looking on the up for our beloved blue robot.

Seriously!? MML3 was SUPPOST to be about the fans and delivering something that everybody could enjoy and love; and from what the demo showed off, it looked rather promising and even "I" was looking forward to it, even though I've never played any of the previous "Legends" titles; I still wanted to play this game! But, no, fuck it, they say. It's not going to make a lot of money, so fuck it. Jesus.

You guys killed, Breath Of Fire
You guys, almost, have killed off, Devil May Cry
You guys are trying to fuck around, Resident Evil
And you guys have destroyed, Mega Man, a beloved classic.

All you guys have now is Street Fighter. Thank god for that! *snicker*

I guess this means that Square-Enix is no longer the biggest joke in the gaming universe today. At least -- they -- release their shit, no matter how bad it is.
I died inside... majorly... all of my Capcom favorites are now dust in the wind. >_>;
...But you still have, Street Fighter!

Good...ol'...Street...Fighter...

*cries into his wine glass*

Wait, aren't we the same people that complain that companies never seem to create new IPs or try new things in games?

No one wanted IPs be to removed though, especially not ones that come back from the graveyard with fresh community input.

edit: then again I have no idea where your generalisation comes from

IT'S DIFFERENT THIS TIME!

Y'know, to be fair, the last Mega Man Legends game came out around eleven years ago on the damnable Playstation 1, so this is probably less about corporate greed and stupidity, and more about Capcom digging around in their attic and going "Holy shit! Mega Man Legends 3?! When did we start work on this?! Oh well, back to outsourcing our albino frat boy demonhunters. If Americans can't make our characters more manly looking, then it's time to give up on everything."

I seem to remember in the E3 we griped about how all the games were sequel-sequel-sequel-FPS-sequel-remake-remake of a sequel-FPS. Or maybe I just read about it on Cracked.

You read about it on Cracked, brought it to the attention of the community, and it was griped on by various members of the community. I visited the thread, and read the article, even.

Now, if the article was about sequel-sequel-sequel-RPG-sequel-remake-remake, I think the community would have less qualms. Or not? I dunno.

Street Fighter (which I never was attracted to in the first place), and Resident Evil?

To be fair, Street Fighter is absolutely incredibly popular, and is one of the few great equalizers in video games, millions of people play it, tournaments are held worldwide around the world for all of its major titles worldwide, and anyone, anyone can connect with anyone else in the world for a match in damn near any Street Fighter game.

Street Fighter and its community is absolutely massive and Capcom would be a damn fool to not address the fans in that regard. I mean honestly can you name many other franchises in any video game company that are this active? The fighting game community is a rare genre that is pretty much entirely self sufficient as long as the games come.

I do agree that Capcom needs to focus on its other franchises though, its not like they can't afford to.
