author=Feldschlacht IVauthor=MarrendTo be fair, Street Fighter is absolutely incredibly popular, and is one of the few great equalizers in video games, millions of people play it, tournaments are held worldwide around the world for all of its major titles worldwide, and anyone, anyone can connect with anyone else in the world for a match in damn near any Street Fighter game.
Street Fighter (which I never was attracted to in the first place), and Resident Evil?
Street Fighter and its community is absolutely massive and Capcom would be a damn fool to not address the fans in that regard. I mean honestly can you name many other franchises in any video game company that are this active? The fighting game community is a rare genre that is pretty much entirely self sufficient as long as the games come.
I do agree that Capcom needs to focus on its other franchises though, its not like they can't afford to.

They are. It's just that probably 70% or some other percentage of RE's fanbase pre-Resident Evil 4 hated RE4 and RE5, so they consider it dead. I am not one of those people, though; I love RE4 and RE5 (even though RE5 was meh). Games have to change over time, some people just won't accept it.
However, two of the series main strong points--atmosphere and fear-factor--have disappeared with RE5, which I will say does kind suck.

...I wonder if all this backlash from the fallout of Mega Man Legends 3 will lead them to go like, "Holy shit, people are...angry at us for cancelling some unknown game? Shit! We might lose some money! We better get this project back up and pronto!"

So...what? You can't delete your save data in Mercenaries 3D? How come that doesn't sound like much of a big deal?
Not to mention, it's just the Mercenaries game. It's not even a full-fledged game, in my opinion; just the minigame from RE5 with added features. I wouldn't buy it on that aspect alone.

THINK dude, THINK. Why would not being able to delete your game be a big deal in the used game market and how it's a flagrant example of developer market manipulation to disable gamers from buying used games or loaning them out to friends?

I guess I'm in the 30% that like RE4 and RE5, though I definitely preferred playing the former of those two, considering in RE4 I had to make do with my lack of ammo (I'm wildly inaccurate, even more so with the WiiMote), whereas in RE5 I could just go back to earlier stages, grind cash and ammo that way, then move on.
As for the announcement, I'm not really bothered by it. I never played either of the previous Megaman Legends, and as a whole the only games I really enjoyed were the Battle Network and Starforce games.

I am whole-heartedly in this group. RE4 and RE5 are not Resident Evil games, they are more like crippled versions of Gears of War. When enemies drop tonnes of ammo and you don't need to worry about conserving it, you're not in the survival genre anymore.
Thing is, I don't think RE4 and RE5 are games that properly represent what classic RE is. Therefore, while they are great games, they should have just called them something else, like "Super Resident Evil" and "Super Resident Evil 2."

Also, I'm sad to see a lot of people in that topic just not care about the situation that Capcom is in and the fate of Mega Man... I guess everybody has pretty much given up on it, now.

i think you need to understand that publisher/business side of capcom is pretty separate from the team who were working on MML3...
