Apparently pretending to be gay is the hipster thing these days.

Things I learned from this topic:

1) Yep, ZakkuKun is definitely a troll, most likely of the #shmup variety.
2) Everyone on the internet is way too cool to admit to liking Greenday.

May I ask why I'm a troll? All I did was write a post.
I'm a huge fan of Green Day; probably because I was brought up with that type of music. My Dad has all their albums ever since they released them and he even visits their concerts in the UK. I've got to admit though - I do tend to get bored of their songs pretty easily unless I plan on learning them.
My favourite album would probably be 'International Superhits', as its the one I remember most, though the other albums are also pretty good too.

Green Day is repetitive.

Also the post 'They're real'. That makes no sense, as most bands sing about REAL things. So in that sense, people criticize negatively on EVERY band ALL of the time. Rap, on the other-hand, sing about made up bullshit, most of the time.

I use to like Green Day, and now pretty much despise them, as they are now pretty much repetitive, and add on the singer's voice gets annoying after hearing it so many times. Like how many people hates Metallica, because:

1: They sell out WAY too much.
2: Their stuff is over played
3: Their singer's voice is annoying, now.

Any band that is played too much, and sells out, is a band that I start to hate.

You just don't know about music, and you can't even say that without knowing the band. Do research. It's called, they do what they want. They don't sell out. Gimme one solid, legit reason how they sell out. Voices aren't annoying, and if you were a TRUE fan, overplayed wouldn't bother you. Get into the mindset of music, not the "I do no research, and I'm just making opinions." And, no not all rap does. You do no research. A lot of rap is real, just not the kind you're choosing to listen to. Get all your facts straight and don't just straight up say something.

The mindset of music is 'I like what I like, and no amount of people's questioning(s) of me will change it, and those who try are retarded!'

There is no FACTS when it comes to music. Music is music is music. It all is an opinion and money based corporation. There isn't anything that will change my mind. If I say they are over-played, then they are. If I say the sell out, then they do. If I think the singer's voice is annoying, then guess what? It is.

Because that is my opinion on that band, and it matters not if some little child gets pissy that I don't think like they do, nor conform into some mindless blob of mass opinions not of my own mind and free fucking will. I think this is a legit reason enough. You think so or not, doesn't count to me.

One would be if they didn't get paid for being on Rock Band and any such things such as that, they wouldn't agree to have their songs on it, and they already have ways of earning quite a bit of cash, other than that, before.

That, to me, is selling out. They didn't need to do it, and if it was a 'no paying/ profit job', then they wouldn't even think twice about it.

I don't think your a troll but you sure act like one. If you haven't noticed yet making short pointless threads will annoy many people and I'm sure 'random green day topic' fits the bill. Clueless people like you are very very common and so much so that people grow tired of having this same discussion and that is why you will see them as ass holes when they insult you. But I'm trying to be nice cause most people won't bother explaining it to you. You will also find this out when you spend enough time on here.
You don't need to do heavy research to have an opinion. Their music *is* pretty basic, repetitive and unimaginative (and *gasp* mainstream). And does being a TRUE fan of anything automatically imply that you are not allowed to find fault or dislike aspects of said thing?

I don't need to have a degree in music theory to have an opinion on a piece of music.
If you were a TRUE fan of RMN, assholish comments wouldn't bother you.

Like I say all of the time. "An opinion can never and will never be a fact, or else it'd not be called an -opinion-".
Greenday sucks. End of. I used to have a girlfriend who listened to them nonstop, never listened to any other types of music. I remember she went ballistic when I said they weren't actally real punk. The final straw was when she started photoshopping us both on front of their studio albums... Ugggh.

False. Departing for a moment from the startlingly deep topic of GREEN DAY, there is in fact good and bad musicianship, and good and bad songwriting and structure, and people have good and bad voices. Virtuoso and crappy playing does in fact exist, as does good and bad songwriting, just like empirically good and bad game design exist and (oh god dragging this topic into the deep end here) good and evil. Which isn't to say that everything's absolute and NOTHING's subjective.

Personal preference is a huge factor in what music people like, but that doesn't mean that musical skill and acumen is subjective. It isn't.

Their music *is* pretty basic, repetitive and unimaginative (and *gasp* mainstream).

I actually really disagree, but man oh man I am I WAY too outnumbered to defend greenday here/defend the merits of american idiot. more importantly i just don't fucking care. greenday does not need my argent defense of their music, they have their piles of money and models and drugs to comfort them.

I think my 'arc' with bands like greenday is the opposite of most people's. I really didn't care for them when I was like 13. I came to appreciate them more and more when I got older. I know this is like, the bizarro world version of what most people do.
For what its worth, my 6th grade class was bananas over this band.

Perhaps there is some deep...songness...about their music that makes everyone say, "You know what, that there is a song." No matter what, you've got to admit that Green Day is a band, and, no matter what you say, they make songs. I think we can all at least agree on that. Perhaps at the very least, they make sound.

That was an impersonal, nonspecific "you" by the way.
Topic "Do you guys like pizza?"

Zakku, do you also think that this is a valid topic for our forum?
If yes, that's bad judgement. If no, its hypocritical.

A "do you like ..." topic is like the easiest kind to make. At what point do we get too obscure? Would it be weird to you to see a topic "Attention all Barry Manilow fans please share feelings"? While I suppose it was in your right to post it (in the Welp forum) it does not automatically mean people will consider it a good topic.

Karsuman's feelings are hurt bad right now because you really dealt a blow to his self esteem. I had to talk to him for a while to get him to stop crying.

I remember when green days lyrics were about nothing but being a slacker and masturbating all day.
American Idiot I suppose was my..favorite of the albums. In all seriousness, most of their songs were crap. It's not worth getting an album to listen to 2-3 songs.
