LOOK AT ME I AM AN ART MAJOR
You're splitting hairs with vocabulary here man. You know exactly what I meant. I was talking about sexy fanservice and arguing about how it is a disservice to otherwise serious writing. This is a different matter from the sort of carnal, sexual undertones in Classical art that you're discussing.

LOOK AT ME I AM AN ART MAJOR
* - unless I specifically say that it's less likely, then the chances of it happening are nearly 100%.
Siding with Shadow on this one.
Art of old tried to show the beauty of the human body.
Art in games are trying to turn its player on to seem like a better game. Ever seen an ugly hero in a serious game? What about an uncouth heroine? If that happened sure it may still be a good game but, it'll be no fanservice to turn players on.

I didn't mean anything bad by it man. I just didn't know how else to paraphrase your entire post. I was referencing the whole thing after all and not just one sentence. But I guess I could have put it a little better =\

I can't really understand what your position is.
You know, guys, that the best heroes in literature are always ones with significant human flaws. Gorgeous, athletic, Japanese teenagers and porn actresses just don't really seem to communicate basic personal flaws. If we want to reference classical art, our favorite characters were people like Casanova, Don Quixote, King Arthur, Hercules, Harry Potter, and the like. A common thread running through all of these heroes is that they tend to seriously screw up in various ways or have huge handicaps working against them. Harry Potter was a half-assed wizard who got by almost exclusively on luck, Casanova was a genuinely terrible person who defied Hell all the way to the end, and King Arthur, among other things, had sex and child with his sister!
You may notice that the main character in GTAIV is middle-aged and balding, and you know, I find those things about him pretty compelling.
But aside from that my original point was that Ming Numara in Lost Odyssey made me want to vomit anyway because her boobs are REALLY gross.

Yeah but those are stories.. not games. Now adays games are more jerk off material than actually games. Girls are half dressed, guys are ripped.. everyones is young and unnaturally beautiful. I mean its not all games.. but the majority of rpgs.. NA and Eastern. -majority- not all.
If I want porn I'll wait 'til I'm 18 visit a porn site, not play a game.
Balthier and Basch are attractive men, but that doesn't mean I bought FF12 to fapfapfap. Shion Uzuki v.2 is on my wall yet I don't play Xenosaga to go OMG ZIGGYSEX.
When you buy games for fanservice, you should really just visit 4chan or something.
