MY NAME IN LIGHTS

A supplement for a well-known and well-loved RPG that I wrote six chapters (~20,000 words) for this year just launched at Gencon. The foregoing sentence was a grammatical mess, but I don't care.
I was there in the flesh for its debut--the final product looks amazing, high-gloss, full color, hardcover, and I was happy to get my two comp copies as the thing is retailing for $44.99--and I actually saw people buying it at the booth. Well, more accurately, I lurked around the booth like a creeper right next to the book and said things like "I wrote that book, you should buy it, but no pressure". Which tended to get a laugh. Even though I was serious. And people bought it! I didn't get asked to sign any autographs, at least not this year.
As of the time I began the post, the book is currently #3 on DriveThruRPG.com, which is to Tabletop RPGs as Amazon.com is to just about everything else.
While this joyful moment is sobered significantly by some very sad real life events that I won't discuss on here, nonetheless this is the kind of thing I'm happy to share with RMN.
Preemptive Add-on: "Pics or it didn't happen" type evidence may be something I can furnish shortly.
EDIT: I just realized how misleading the topic title was and I wish it was still the old days when I could go back and edit in a 'so to speak'. As you can imagine, the TTRPG industry is NOT actually that focused on individual name recognition, although slightly moreso than the video game industry (I mean, sure, you might know names like Hideo Kojima and Peter Molyneaux, but you probably can't name even one of the five lead programmers for Vagrant Story or whatever).

Where are the links to said product mate?
It's this isn't it? I seem to recall your name being Devon Oratz.
The review seems favourable at least.

I was leaving the detective work to you guys. : )
GJ!
Edit: One good thing about not working on RPG Maker games is that I will have a paycheck eventually to soften the blow of all of the less-than-good reviews that are almost certainly about to come. Like anybody who publishes TTRPGs, CGL has a lot of haters.
Wow, *chuckles* that's some awesome stuff, Max McGee! You always were a pretty good writer, and it's good to finally see your getting something out of all this writing stuff. Excellent. :D
Er...$44.99!? And people actually -- paid -- for that? Wow. O_o

Like the miniatures wargaming market, the TTRPG market sadly can basically charge whatever it wants.
(If it was industry standard for me to get royalties of any kind, I'd omit the "sadly" part.)

Congrads. It's hard to express the feeling of being there for the launch. Holding your work in REALITY. Savour it, Legion. The feeling never gets old.
Every single time my eyes skim the title of this topic I hear this song.
Plus I used to have a tumblr of the same name...
/unrelated.

I was very surprised when that link did not lead to a tune from a broadway musical.
Actually, I was so surprised I kind of jumped out of my seat, and I had just turned the volume up. Way to give me a heartattack, NewBlack.
(I have never heard of that band or song before. That young man certainly enjoys yelling.)

Hard work pays off, well done!
Damn, knowing you'd become rich and famous, I would have harvested sweet penny out of you for that tablet XD!

Nice work Max.
Woot, the book is now $25. If i didnt feel the need to spend all my money on videogames, i would buy it.

lolololololol....so far from rich, and not even internet famous. : )
(I think the PDF is 25, and the dead tree is $45, but if the dead tree IS down to $25, I will tell all my friends so THEY can buy it!)
Sadly, unlike video games, both tabletop wargames and RPGs get more expensive each year. Only a year ago the standard price for a hardcover core rulebook was 50$, now it's, like, 60$. A blister with a single miniature was 10-12$, now it's 15$. If only the wages followed...
Anyhow, congratulations on your first RPG book. Which chapters were your responsible for? BTW, I'm kind of surprised Shadowrun is still going strong after all these years and the whole cyberpunk fad being long over. Cyberpunk 2020 certainly did not have such luck!
