I assure you I'm no where NEAR as STUPID as one might think.

You could use an event that is the same level as a hero, that won't let you access that part until the requirements are met in the conditional branch.
-Locked Doors
-Unfriendly guards
-Magical barriers
-"No, what am I doing? I need to go the other way."
Im doing this in rpg maker 2003. and i dont see an event that would do this..

If it's something like an area on the world map, place an event over the town/dungeon/castle/tower/etc that upon observing brings up a message or something that either has the hero think "I have no reason to come here, yet." or a local guard saying "Hey! Stay out of our village, outsider!", essentially something to that effect. Then during your quest when you activate a switch that's relevant to the part of the storyline that requires the player to access this area, create a second page on the event that's made active by that switch being on and use that as your teleport event.

If you want, I could whip up a quick sort of tutorial project and put it in my locker for you to check out.

Alright, this should cover everything. Just open it in the editor to check the eventwork.
