SPACE IN MAPS 2.0:MY NEWEST GAME STYLE

You all know how boring and bad spaces in maps can be, well, though it's definetly not a perfect example at all, take my Fire Woman game, (that has already been once denined, please approve soon!) the only good area in the game I guess, is the forest world. But it doesn't have too little or much, but if I took out all of the trees and replaced it with something that makes it seem like an invisible maze, would you still like it? Here's a better example of space in maps, go to the wiki of my favorite 2003 game to see, here's a link: Yume Nikki Wiki: Maps You see how famous and great that game is, this is what I like to call, treasure hunting style, you go around looking for items in a barren area that is yet still interesting to look at!
This is the reason it's my newest game style, and I was thinking of making a fan game for it, it's beta name was something like Dream Death or whatever, but it's new name is making it a fan made sequel to the fan made sequel Yume 2kki, I was going to call it Yume Sankii, San meaning 3 in japanese. Who likes this idea or not, and if you have any suggestions than please do, I tried to make the game once, need more experience. How do you feel about this, and why?

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

You want to make a fan game of an RPG Maker 2003 game? Seriously?

Other people have also already made fan games of it? Am I reading this right?

No, I mean, if so, go ahead. That's hella awesome. The fact that an RPG Maker game inspired you that much is a great testament to its creator, and to the medium. I'm just surprised as hell.

Regarding your original question, if the original game uses that style of map, and you want your game to feel like a fan spinoff of it, then I think you should use that same style of map. It is certainly unique and evocative, though I wonder how fast I'd get tired of it.
I've thought about making a fan game of Glaceria... but I think that's because my system was stolen to make a good game.
just make a FUCKING GAME!!!

it doesn't have to be the most awesomest EPICSHit evAR!

It's just has to be playable and something people who aren't your friends will actually like.
Yep just do it :-) Do it :-)

Cool, thanks for the support!Just need help with the effects and stuff, along with the instructions that pop up in the middle of the game. I actually tried to make a game called Bill based on it, but, the idea didn't go through.

O.K., that's 3 yeses, I think.
Really... DO NOT make a Yume Nikki fangame. Worst idea ever.

Also, using Yume Nikki as an excuse for empty maps is just cheap. The game has a very unique graphic style, you can't just call it "empty" and then make empty maps saying you're making a Yume Nikki fangame.

If your problem is filling maps, just PUT STUFF. There's no mystery, really.

Example:
I have no problem with filling maps, and there not gonna be completely empty, some of them not even going to be close to completely empty, take a look at the maps and you'll see. And maps like this
Look shitty...I rest my case on that maps, how do you feel about the map. If it's your work than your bad at mapping, I laugh in yo' face if it was your work, hahahaha! It looks like something you'd see in crappy game reviews! I'm sorry man, but with that being your example, that's not doing you justice, it's doing the exact opposite of justice.

P.S.Sorry for trashing whoever did this, work, but seriously, SERIOUSLY!
at least it got past the submissions queue

at least it got past the submissions queue

That was my point.

And if the person who made it sees this, he's gonna eat your soul.

Anyways, sorry, but you're really in no position of aggressively critique anyone's mapping.

I must be blind (or a "noob") to ask this: What's wrong with that map from Everything Turns Grey? Sure, the shadows are off in places, but outside of this, what's wrong with it?

Nothing, in fact, absolutely NOTHING.

Edit : second time I make a double post, I don't know how ??

My query was more directed to pyrodoom, as he seemed to think that whatever was wrong with the screen was horribly obvious. That I'm not seeing what was wrong with it was what prompted the query.

It's messy and ugly, sure it's supposed to be a bombed out area but there is way too much varied stuff randomly placed in such a small area. On the plus side it does at least have detail to it, and it is a small and navigable map. But yeah it's old, and it isn't as bad as most would make it out to be.
Darken is right, it's messy and ugly. That's what it was, it looked like literally, a junk yard!
I agree it's messy and ugly, but I posted it because I think

messy and ugly > empty

Much better than, for instance, a map like this:

Invisible mazes suck.
Empty maps suck.

And when do people finally stop making Yume Nikki ripoffs?
Yume Nikki's gameplay was horrible. I am no fan of gams which have long ways of walking as their main gameplay. It is a bad way to higher the length of a gam, too.

Who likes this idea or not, and if you have any suggestions than please do, I tried to make the game once, need more experience. How do you feel about this, and why?
Don't like it. Next idea please.

(p.s.: Also I am no fan of people copying stuff just because the original was "dat fuckin fäimous and greät!!!11eleven". Use RPG Maker to express yourself and make your own style of art, and don't try to copy others.)
Thanks to that pizza panic screenshot, I think I have my next game review set up...
