INPUT FOR NEW GAME

Hi there, I'm making a game called Star Trek: the Legend of Zelda. The demo is almost completed. I will post it when it is. The basic starting story is as follows: The Borg are invading Federation territory. The planet Hyrule happens to be an underdeveloped planet in Federation space. The borg learn of the triforce and intend to get it to instantly conquer the entire universe. The Enterprise meanwhile is on an intercept course to (unknowingly) aid Link in the prevention of the destruction of the universe. Any ideas, critiques and even blatant insults are welcome. I am taking all of the input I can get for this. This Is my first game and I want it to be sweet. I'm a graduated audio engineer, but I'm not a "game designer". I have coding experience, and have worked out a similar "Link to the Past" battle system. The idea is to combine many "nerdy" things that are awesome. A couple of things that that I would like to include is a towel item that is crucial to the completion of the game (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), some Star Wars influences as the imperial march as the main theme for the borg (Mako Reactor theme from ff7 for in the cube itself). Anyway, before I write a three page message, any questions, comments or ideas (positive or extremely negative) post!
Strangest mix I've ever heard of! Sounds like a humor game am I right?
Definitely a humor game. I want it to bring back some of the ideas of classic games and stories like Star trek and Zelda and ff7 because they are all amazing no matter how good the graphics get on newer games. I just want to recognize that in a sort of smattering in a game.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Crossovers tend to be a pretty silly premise. When done right, they take advantage of that at first and draw you in with amusing interactions between the two IPs, but then trick you and gradually turn into something really cool while your guard is down. This actually has potential!
Scourge
I used to make games. I still do, but I used to too.

This idea has the potential to be either the greatest thing ever, or a horribly failed attempt to make the greatest thing ever. Either way, the mere idea just gave me a nerdgasm.
That is exactly my plan LockeZ! You said it for me. I hope I can get some input from anyone who is willing to throw it in. I'll be happy to credit you in the game if you wish.
I actually like the sounds of this. I hope you can do each franchise justice. What engine are you using to make the game?
If this is your first game then just do your best to experiment with gameplay mechanics and finish it, that's how you progress to become a better developer. We will try our best to give you good critique.
Sounds like the kind of thing you'd find in SCUMM era adventure games (Monkey Island, Simon the Sorcerer etc). They used to enjoy a good poke at famous IPs or genre tropes in the course of the game's unfolding. I can see it working if, and only if, the "tone" is spot-on.
Well, I'm glad you guys like the idea. My best attribute as an audio engineer, in my opinion, is capturing the feel of a scene and applying the appropriate sounds/atmosphere. I hope I can do all of these genres justice. The engine I'm using is just rpg2003, but I've worked out the code for MANY different styles and gameplays. I've been playing around with it for years and years. I think many people underestimate the power if rpgmaker. It's all there if you are willing to put the time and logic into it.
This actually sounds really awesome. I think you could enhance the humour by providing sound clips from both media for the cutscenes, such as making it seem that Picard is talking about Hyrule.
