"I just want a little bit more of a higher standard of quality I guess.", well you might be surprised, but I have exactly the same goal, also, if you don't change the criatiria for acceptance, you'll have exactly the same games + a lot of shit!!!?

Edit : and changing the criatiria is impossible : "sorry, kid your game's no good anymore...?!
Not really. You don't need to change the criteria for acceptance around here- I just think its a great idea to sort of sift through the games we get, and help the people that need it. If you do that, then everything could just be better. (Honestly, its not like we're in a terrible situation or anything, I would just like it if we improved things.) I want the RM scene to be respected more, because the people here deserve it.

Also, if I recall correctly, the original plan for "The Voide" was to have games there not show up on the front page, but somewhere else. So I don't think we'd experience an influx of bad games or anything. (If that's what you meant, that is)

Sorry to insist, but if you think the games are fine here, which I do too, and don't think the criteria should be changed, how are you going to have "higher standards of quality? Actually; I didn't express myself correctly, it's not higher quality i'm concerned about, but being careful about not having a lowering of the game quality here.
I'm probably doing a bad job of explain this, so pardon me. Basically I'm saying that I want a system like halibabica suggested, one that takes a game and asks "Is this something that should be coming up on the frontpage? Something that will make people take us seriously and draw them into the community and the games?" if not, then just say it should be improved, and put in the workshop until it meets a high enough standard to be publicly displayed. I'm not saying that standard has to be insanely high and elitist, but just enough to be considered a good amateur game.

Lennon's got it spot-on. The workshop isn't just 'bad game ghetto.' It's to seclude bad games while they're (hopefully) being adapted into good ones. It's not an inescapable abyss, and anyone willing to sink the time and effort needed to improve could get their game out of there and into the main database. It would also show community outsiders that we do have quality standards, so they don't wonder why games like Sonic and the Chaos Dragons ever got approved.

With such a place, we probably could ramp up the quality standards for submissions a little. It's not like that would be unfair, though. It'd just be a new set of rules. If people are really that concerned, we could grandfather clause the whole thing and only apply it to games submitted from the point of implementation or something.
Or we could just increase the minimal amount of screenshots/images needed for a gamepage to exist, as well as having said images being approved for the gamepage itself. That way, the admins won't have to spend time making an extra section for certain games to spike up the quality standards of this place.

Doing that wouldn't improve it at all. People would have good screens maybe, but what we're looking for is overall better games.
I think it's impossible to increase the amount of "better games" in any full-fledged indie game making community, especially this one. I doesn't even matter what approach you take.

The point, DBAce9Aura, is to help people make their games better instead of denying the game and having the maker figure it out on their own.

Requiring more screenshots would make managing the submissions queue a little easier by giving those managing it more info to sway them to accept or decline. However, that isn't really the point of any of this, as Khos just said.

At first, yeah. Eventually everything should work out to be somewhat better overall though, since we're keeping the good stuff where it is and improving the bad stuff.

This is essentially to make us more respectable by improving the overall quality of games on the site semi-dramatically.
