Also there isn't too much of 'America is awesome'. Believe it or not, Captain America isn't that type of superhero.

I'm from Paraguay and Captain America was a hit here!
I loved all of the Marvel Movies except maybe Hulk (my least favorite superhero, dunno why) and was hoping to see The Fantastic Four taken better care of.
Green Lantern was ok too, not as bad as Rotten Tomatoes says, in my opinion.
Really... the cool thing about superheroes are their powers. Superheroes with no powers = duh.

Yeah that's what I figured. Captain America is a hit the world over.

While characters like Batman/Bruce Wayne and Iron Man/Tony Stark don't technically have 'powers', both characters superhuman intelligence, ingenuity, and the fact that they work with superhero's definitely factors them as welcome additions to their mythos. And while Captain America doesn't have any superpowers, he's definitely superhuman.

A 'superpower' can be more thematically subtle than 'pew pew from fingertips' (although that's cool too, not knocking it).
I love Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2 the most. Iron Man s very good, though the sequel was disappointing (not terrble-terrible, just nowhere near the same quality). I enjoyed Captain America quite a lot--especially the first half that covers his origins and doing USO shows. New Superman is kind of weirding me out with the red underwearless suit. Superman Returns started out strong, but for a Superman who has defeated Zod and went on a space tour, he really needed a more menacing and challenging villain than Lex Luthor (at least the con-man styled Luthor the movies use).
Iron Man 2 suffers from being a very good movie on its own, but the first one is so much better that its noticeable.
Just about every movie mentioned here is based off comic books. What about movies like Darkman, Orgazmo, and The Meteor Man. Where's the love? xD Robocop!!

The last Batman movie was good and I'll watch the next but all of these movies are reusing the same characters that have been used a million times before. There are so many awesome comic books right now that are highly original and deserve to be a movie more. It's fine to do the classics but so many just don't do justice to them. Plus, once it is done right, you don't have to remake it in a shitty way.

The idealization of Superheroes is really in the forefront of our culture now right. Look at all the new movies about average people being "superheroes": Rainn Wilson/Ellen Page as the Crimson Bolt/Boltie in "Super", Aaron Johnson as "Kick-Ass". I just watched a documentary this summer about people who dress up like to fight crime.

I like the Dark stuff. The people whom aren't bad, but are anti-heroes in a sense.
Such as Spawn, Blade, The Punisher and Hellboy, also in a sense, Dante. Though it is more a game series, though released as a Manga and Anime series as well.

I'm actually getting a Manga/Graphics Novel made up featuring an anti-Hero. So it's just kind of cool.
I prefer superhero movies over superhero comic books. The comic books are usually bogged down in too much mythology and tend to have 50 years of baggage making any attempt at reading them a chore. Of course with Marvel's new Avenger project the same could probably be said of the movies. Especially this year I feel the market has really been saturated with these films. Of course I still have to see most of them. And X-Men: First Class was pretty damn good.

Basically I think this boom might die out pretty soon. The executives seemed to be very excited going to comic-con and showcasing their latest big thing. Apparently forgetting that the majority of movie-goers don't go to comic-con. Of course I don't have any number backing this (and looking at boxofficemojo and 10 highest grossing movies in the US this year, two superhero movies do fit in there (and another within top 15), so those numbers would contradict this) but it's still a gut feeling I have.

Of course I also look forward to the next Batman. The last one was just so incredibly awesome and Christopher Nolan seems to be incapable of failing. And if the Superman "reboot" works out apparently DC are thinking about making a "Justice League" movie (which apparently is DC's version of the Avengers). Of course with none of the cast from the Superman or Batman movies but instead recast roles.

I don't know what else to say about superhero movies. They're a fun watch I guess. And also. I know everyone seems to hate origin stories (and nearly all superhero movies seem to have to have them) but I always like those for some reason. You know when a guy finds out he has powers and has to cope with it. It's done to death I know. But usually it's my favourite part in the movies nonetheless.

Oh yeah and also. Watchmen was fucking incredible.

After watching X-Men Origins: Wolverine, I decided to skip first class
Big mistake

I'm not a huge fan of superhero movies outside everyone's favourite (Dark Knight lol) and X-Men: First Class, both of which were superb.
Oddly I also have a soft-spot for Spiderman 3. The Peter Parker "Emo" Phase was amazingly leftfield; I loved every minute of it.

I just need to chime in here and voice my disgust for the Spiderman Trilogy. Terrible acting, putrid dialogue, campy as fuck action (peter catches mj and her plate of food, green goblin posing like a power rangers villain fresh outta the putty machine, the emo scene in S3 that looks like a scene from Jim Carry's The Mask, etc), and some extremely overrated CG. I HATE these films passionately, and I'm happy that they're rebooting the series. What pissed me off the most about the trilogy is how many people loved them, because I thought the reboot would never happen. Anyways, I could criticize every minute of each movie, or tell numerous stories about my experiences with them (like when the huge American flag popped up behind Spidey in the third movie and everyone in the theater either laughed, said "WTF", or said "fuck this" walked out), but I'll leave it at that for now. God I hated them!

Really looking forward to the new Batman movie, and hoping Iron Man 3 is a bit better than the 2nd one was.
I really like to watch superhero movies. I am seen lots of superhero movies. But, I really like the Spiderman.

Spiderman is the favorite movie of most of the people. And Mine List of favorite super hero movie also include the movie thor. That was a nice movie. And Now I am looking forward to watch bunraku . That seems to be an interesting movie.
Mark Strong is the only reason I would see Green Lantern 2 or watch Green Lantern again.

I thought the first two Spidermans were excellent.
Do you think that the reboot is a good idea?

Good idea? They made Transformers 2 didn't they? People will watch anything and not care. The nerds meanwhile groan after every break in precious continuity.

There's a reason they're restarting Spidey.
It's a business to make money, not good movies. spider-Man is like Marvels Superman. One of their big cash cows.
Recently, Disney bought Marvel and now retains rights to make movies for the characters... Except those who have rights owned to other companies. Fox has X-Men. X-Men First Class was not a prequel. It is a reboot AND first of a new trilogy. As long as Fox keeps pumping out X-Men universe movies... They are free to keep using the franchise to make money.

That brings me back to Spidey. Spider-Man 3 was a mess and it was no wonder executives who decided Venom had to be in the movie. So would Sam Reimi direct spider man 4? Clearly he is to blame for the clusterfuck. I'm sure there was reasons on the company side and the directors side of who is to blame. End story? Production of Spider 4 was delayed and delayed. Finally, Sony had to just DO something to retain Spider-Man rights.

BTW if anyone complains about Sherman's outfit in Man of Steel, please note it changed in the comics too. Why, you ask? DC no longer holds the rights to Superman.
