NEW SUIKODEN GAME FOR PSP?!

Huzzah! A new game has been announced although details are really sketchy right now. I'm curious to see if it'll be an actual Suikoden type of game, or if it'll try something new like Tierkris (or whatever the hell it's called) did. And why the PSP? My PSP died a couple months ago, and with the announcement of VITA I took it as a sign that the system no longer had anything to offer me. Good thing VITA will be backwards compatible.
Anyways, thoughts?
Anyways, thoughts?
I wish they would at-least go back to the original ways of 1 and 2 in terms of art, music, style and game play for just 1 game, as a sort of tribute. I mean Suikoden isn't famous like a lot of the recent and older games we have out in this world, and it'd not grow much bigger of a fan base anytime soon. But least it'd make the fans happy who became fans of it since the first 2 games.
I have gone back to replay the whole series recently, and just beat the 2nd game. While I love the direction of the first 2 games, they aren't perfect. In fact, I almost gave up on Suikoden II at various points due to a lack of coherent instructions on where to go, awful balancing, and a couple other things (I'll leave out the terrible translation as it isn't really part of the original Japanese version).
I only spent about an hour with the 3rd game my first time playing it, and I generally didn't like anything about it. However, I never gave it a fair chance, and that is what I intend to do soon. I have heard some very favorable and less than favorable things about the PS2 installments... it sounds pretty polarizing. I guess if you consider that, it is possible that the new game will be a throw back to older games. Perhaps that's why they've dropped the number sequence for this latest installment?

Why the PSP? Now I'm gonna have to go and buy one (it's the one game series where I'll get whatever I need to in order to play the next installment - even if I have to go without more important things. What can I say? It is my favourite game series. And Suikoden II is my favourite game. Ever.)
I eagerly await hearing more about it. The trailer looks pretty good, though I didn't recognise any familiar faces. I think I'm gonna go over it a few more times just to make sure.
(Please let it be set in the Suikoden world and not the Teirkries one!)

I'm worried, but I won't judge the game until we know more about it. A lot of hints seem to relate it more to Tierkreis than the originals though. No no... Don't judge Julie, don't judge...
Well, this is rather disappointing. Yeah, it is A Suikoden game, but not THE Suikoden game we all have been waiting for, for almost, what? 6 years now? ...But that doesn't really come as a surprise either. We get it: Konami hates us.
The teaser seems Ok, I guess. But the character design and art in general seems to be in par with that of Tierkreis, which I didn't quite like. It felt, less serious? too anime? I don't know; something. ...So, yeah. Meh! What else can I say?

I agree with those sentiments, but at least they're keeping the property in the limelight, meaning we could get Suikoden VI sometime down the road.
New news! Apparently there's a chance it is set in the old world! A slim chance but a chance non-the-less.
Here's a link to suikosource, which has most of the latest news. I'll put it here too, though.
First: Picture from a magazine! ^.^

- Number of Players: 1/Wireless LAN Supported
- It is the tale of a young man who challenges the "Centennial Monster" which appears every 100 years and devours everything. The main character is sent 100 years into the past by a mysterious boy named Zephon (robes).
Character Info
- Main Character (I'm not bothering with the VAs, since that's already been taken care of): A swordsman from Telbe Village. His father died when he was a child. His mother, Signey, died in battle several years ago fighting the Holy Imperial Army.(Blue eyes)
- Gino: A craftsman of magic stones from Telbe Village. He is Myura's younger brother and the main character's childhood friend. Because he's easily elated, he's often scolded by Myura. (Either Top-knot or Green text box - seriously, I can't tell!)
- Myura: A mage from Telbe Village. Gino's older sister. Ever since the main character lost both his parents, they have become like his real siblings.(Either Top-knot or Green text box - seriously, I can't tell!)
- Zephon: A mysterious boy who appeared before the main character when he took refuge in the fortress ruins and used the power to leap through time to guide them 100 years into the past. (Robes)
- Ducas: Commanding officer of the 4th division of the advance troops in the Ionian/Aionian (Aronia?) Holy Imperial Army. He has been dispatched to Telbe Village in order to subdue it. (oldbie)
Zephon is a boy, not a girl.
STARS
Hero: Tenkai
Myura: Tenei - Gremio, Lyon and Marica
Gino: Tentai - Pahn, Jewel, Jale
Ducas: Tenko - Viktor, Kyle, Kika, Sgt. Joe
Zephon: Tenkan - Luc, Ted, Zerase, Zenoa
Point of interest
- Ionian/Aionian Holy Imperial army might be related to Holy Harmonia. It's been said that in the past, Aronia became known asHarmonia... Perhaps a mis-spelling of Aionia or change of spelling like Cyndar/Sindar? It is called the Holy Empire...
(Fixed!)

It's been said that in the far future of Harmonia it became known as Aronia...
Aronia was the predecessor to Harmonia. Hikusaak toppled Aronia and founded Harmonia a few hundred years ago.
Right you are! >.<;
How'd I mix that up? XD
Hm, wonder if that makes more or less sense considering the time travelling aspect of the game. (Fingers are crossed!)

Oh, God! The character design! ...If there's something I always loved about the Suikoden series was its 'feeling of authenticity', or however you'd call it. Such authenticity was reflected on every aspect of the game, including costume design. And while they always tried to make the characters look cool they never went too far about it; 1, 2 & 4 had really simple costumes, 3 & 5 had them a bit more stylized but they never lost a certain vibe within the context of the game... But now look at (some of) these! They're devolving into a standard jrpg fashion parade. (And don't even get me started on the hairdos!)
I'm kinda hoping this game is not placed in Main continuity of the series and much less in such a poignant time/place like the Kingdom of Aronia if they're are going to cheapen the deeper layers of the game as much as they seem to be doing with the superficial ones...
Oh well, I'm too old for videogames anyways. ;^;

Hey, don't worry too much about the character design yet. The ones shown are apparently early designs. They're also only 5 of how many characters? If there's one thing about Suikoden I love it's the fact that with so many characters there's always at least one character for even the craziest fan to love.
XD
Also, did I mention that Konami has hired tri-Ace to direct/develop it? That could be a good or bad thing, depending. On the one hand - Star Ocean! On the other hand - Star Ocean 3. -_-;
Well, we'll just have to wait for more news.

Well, Star Ocean - Second Story brings it about even, then, depending on whether or not you liked the game. I thought it was okay. ^.^;
Still, I'd have definitely preferred the original team to take over but that's probably never gonna happen. ;.;
EDIT: Oh, and new scan! We're still waiting on a bigger one and translation, but one of the headings does refer to the history of III and V. Might be best to take that with a pinch of salt for the moment, though.

It just hit me that this guy is the Tenkai. For some reason my brain blocked that bit of information the first few times I read this, and I knew there had to be a good reason for me being so pissed at that dumb smile of his, but it finally hit me why! ...This guy is the Tenkai!? Even the guy from Tierkreis had the right feeling for it, but this sss----- doesn't even-----
Arghh! That's it! Someone give me the blueprints of Konami's HQs, now!
