RPG MAKER VX ACE

It's official. As much as I adore Melody/scripting/etc., I am going to have a month of going back to the OLD WAYS and making a fairly code-free game (I will probably change a few minor things, but...).
On one hand, I laugh at every change because it's already... a part of what I have in my own project file, right now. At the same time, I hope it'll help more people make the switch and eventually become more comfortable with RGSS(3). And, since I did start forever ago with rm2k and even a little rm95/srpg95, I am a little fucking -boner achieved- at how smooth some of this looks.

The character/faceset generator looks pretty sweet, as do some of the new graphics.
But, it still hasn't been answered if VX projects will be able to be opened and edited in Ace. And I don't have the time to restart my project so it's a pretty big selling point if I can just continue in the new editor from the point I'm at.

Apparently there's now a default COVER skill for VXAce.
The boss has a REAAALLLYYY cool death transition.

I see 1 lower layer, 1 event layer, and 1 weird layer that's probably Terrain Tagging as seen below. I also tried the tab thing and the lower layer replaces the upper layer.

The Title Screen has now layer options and stuff. You can also change the color of the window skin too. ETc.

THE MUSIC AND SOUND EFFECTS ARE REALLY NICE. Now they added XP sound effects apparently
WHOA you can control font size in the game without using scripts. See below:
They also added some new functions:
Menu screen with more save slots and ordering your party as much as you want :D
Status screen has biography and stuff now! It looks better than before!

Apparently autoshadows are affected by the shift key now so you can eliminate autoshadows with the shift key technically.

EDIT: I'm really curious as to how the new super free-form listing of traits actually works. Like, can we have an actor who starts as the Paladin class, but can also equip Mage equipment? Can equipment/status effects do stuff by default like affect "+10% Fire damage" or "+27% magic evasion?"
EDIT2: Is it just me, or does music finally continue after it was left off, instead of restarting?

Heh; The facesets are kinda cute (except those from the editor, of course) I like them better than the VX's ones.

Can you post a link to the trial? I'm curious to some of the internal changes (and if the music got better than nails on a chalkboard VX) and google isn't finding it :(

Had to go forum spelunking. Link to RMVXA.com's thread on it with mirrors to download the trial
VX and Ace both use the same file format for scripts. So if you wanted to you could copy the Ace Scripts.rvdata2 file into a VX project, rename it to Scripts.rvdata, edit the file and save, then copy and paste it back to Ace as Scripts.rvdata2

Please remove my little footnotes, they really don't serve a purpose besides I was kinda grumpy when I wrote that 

Painting encounter tiles on the map is going to be so handy.
You could use this for things like map height, automated NPC routes, all kind of things in an Action RPG, etc. (Regions just wouldn't work well for that because of the effort involved.)
