LOOKING FOR PEOPLE.

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

You were perfectly clear to begin with. You are willing to help but won't be able to do a lot of the work. And that is unacceptable. You need to be able to do pretty much all of the work yourself.
Thats good to know.(the part where you's know i was going to help)

So, Pretty much, I need to become REALLY good at RPGmaker before i will get any help?

Like I said, some generous people might make, like, one or two sprites or maps for you. And we are definitely more than willing to give you advice and critique to help you improve. But, no, you won't be finding an honest-to-god team any time in your immediate future.
Well you see no one knows you that well Airxzen, usually teamwork happens when you build up a friendship with people beforehand. No one isn't going to waste time on making a game for a person they don't actually know. It's like me asking a total stranger to write out my years worth of coursework, it's just not going to happen. =/

Hey, do you mind if I write out years worth of your coursework?
I honestly dont expect any more then that
nor do i expect an honest to god team at all in my future.
Time to start practicing. You can lean on us for help in making YOU better, but not to make your game for you.

Clyve, Id be carefull on where you use that humour of yours, you might find yourself doing years of course work.

@ Starskipping.

It's not even this, but you're assuming that people who would help will just help throughout.... and people aren't that hard working enough to do that. Most people don't even finish their own games, much less help you finish yours.

Like, you don't necessarily need to be good at every aspect, but if you have a project that looks good but is faulty in one area, they might want to just help out on that part so the project can be really good.
For example: You are a brilliant story teller and an average mapper, but are not very good in gameplay design. People might be willing to help you out there so the project can be something great. People will want to be part of a project that they feel will succeed or be released. No, you don't have to be great in every aspect, but at least focus on doing something really well. If you have amazing graphics, okay gameplay skills, then perhaps someone would gladly lend you their story writing skills.

Otherwise, you'd sort of have to do what we all (or most) did. Practice, practice, practice. Practice, read tutorials, learn, ask questions. In 2 years you're likely to be able to make a decent game by yourself without needing anyones help, or just a bit of help for your weakest points. Make multiple test projects just to learn, never start with a dream project.

Maybe, instead of trying to make a game that everyone will see, you should try experiment with the engine first, and read tons of game making articles, then there is a chance it will be better.
For sprites get Graphic gale(http://www.natomic.com/hosted/marks/mpat/tools.html) and this which has easy to make sprites or just the base (for both male & female). http://www.famitsu.com/freegame/tool/chibi/index1.html#hairop
If you want to take the short-cut route - and let me tell you, it's not much of a shortcut, but hey! it's freer than paying someone to work for you - try making smaller games, helping others out with their projects, doing some of the small community contests and learning what you can. You'll get your name out there and if people know you they'll feel better about helping you.

Of course this can backfire quite a bit if you don't have the better connection that getting to know others over a longer period will give you. Of course, just because you are close friends with others doesn't mean that you'll get a finished product out of all of your work. Some people don't like taking orders and like to be in charge, some may disappear for a time and others may just not care as much as you do about the project you're creating or create problems among the team. Sometime things just go wrong and you're left with a project that you can't finish because you don't know how to do whatever the other person was doing.

This is why it's important to cultivate your own skills.

Your skills are your selling point when it comes to creating a team, and the more skills you have (or more skilled you are in one area), the more likely it is that others will take you seriously enough to consider aiding you.

It's not just mapping, spriting or scripting, either. There's music and sound, the other graphical areas (like battlers, faces, resource management and menu design), story/plot/character development/script-writing and gameplay.

Of these the written areas are the least wanted, whilst the graphical and (in the case of XP and VX) script side of things are the most valued. Mapping and sound tend to fall between, depending on the game, though music can sometimes be just as sought after as graphics. This means that you'll find a lot of people who are willing to write the story for you, but not as many that will do the full soundtrack or create original graphics - especially when they have no reason to believe that you will actually release the game, as they don't know you or your track record.

The graphics and scripting/systems are the tangible things that people can see and are usually the first thing a person looks for when they check out a project. It's what gets people excited for a project and actually look at the story. Sometimes people will overlook this if they know the person who is making the game (for example, I would play anything made by Lysander, Kentona, Strangeluv, Legion, etc... because I know that I've enjoyed their previous games before and don't need to look at the graphics to know I'd probably find any others of theirs enjoyable.) Most of the time, though, if someone wants help they will show them something that will draw that person to the project.

It's not enough to say that the story is wild and the character designs are amazing. You have to show them that they want to be a part of the project. Usually this is done with a well-presented topic, filled with pictures of characters and areas, some sprite work and maps, a concise but well worded explanation of the story and characters, perhaps a few tunes or a small trailer so that people can get a taste of the game and decide whether or not they want to be a part of it. Of course, being know helps, but a lot of people will respond well to someone who seems to know what they are doing and what they need.

You need to sell your idea to the public, make connections, prove that you're dedicated to game making in general and your own game in particular and learn how to do things so that if something does fall through with one of your team, you can pick up the pieces so that the rest of the team doesn't just leave.

And I'm all over the place with this but hopefully you've learned a few things. :P
Basically, Airxzen, just have fun playing and trying out things yourself first. If you have any questions to ask, we people here definitely can give you advice. But, there is a difference between giving advice and spoon-feeding.

You gotta learn the ropes first and ask, learn and practise.

You can't script? Ask and learn.
You can't sprite? Ask and learn.
You can't map? Ask and learn.

You won't get anywhere if you're just gonna ask other people to do much of the work for you. Yes, you're willing to help, but what? How will people help you if they don't know what you are good in helping them?
Basically, your points 1,2,3 and 4 of what you can do aren't of much help, to be honest.

The other problem here (and probably the actual problem) is you're asking people to help you without elaborating on what project you're doing. How will people help you if you don't preach your game ideas and concepts and goals to others?

Also, do listen to Liberty :)
Wow. More replys then i was expecting
Thats cool.

okay..start off with

@Adon
I am experimenting With the actual Programme & reading articals.

You sure can type.
Dont worry, Your not all over the place.
I actually Like the way you explain things.
Dont know why? I just do
Anyways.

I understand that i have to get my own skills & stuff like that, I also know that there is more to Rpg makeing then just those three things i mentioned.
(mind blank Re-reads liberty's post)
So, what your saying is.
That people are going to more interested in MY games i to have a good track
record. But to get a good track record i have to make games & do things like, Collabs and stuff.
(Note taken)

@eplipswich
I will be asking a lot of questions thats the thing.
like LOTS!

" How will people help you if they don't know what you are good in helping them?"
thats my exact thought but other way around.
How can I help people when i cant do much to help them so that they help me, or think about helping at least.
(never said help so many times in one sentence)

I plan on making a game page soon.
hopefully by next month. All going to plan.
& im satisfied with what ive done UP to that point.

But i plan to post a topic in Game Design and theroy. To get a little advice on my story....Am i allowed to do that?
