SKYRIM HYPE THREAD: UNDEAD CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE DRAGON'S SOUL
Posts
So bookshelves you buy for your houses automatically sort their contents into neat rows.
I already envision Max making a character that does nothing but read, hunt, tan hides, build his smithing skill and talks to NPCs. (Because yes, now you can take that wolf pelt and turn it into leather and then turn it into armor.)

Well my first toon is going to be all about teh necromance. Reading books is secondary, but I'm very happy books are returning; I hope there are LOADS of them.
EDIT: Why is this game not inside my face right fucking now?

Also, my first character is going to be a Dunmer Illusion/Conjuration/Sneak necromancer, yeah. I want the necromancy too. I also want to Frenzy entire camps of enemies.
You can deal damage with shield bashes, and upgrade shield bash damage; it would be amazing to play a character that went out with a shield in one hand in healing/Frenzy in the other. The only issue would be dragons - but that's why you have companions and "plz halp me" Illusion spells.
I've never played as a bosmer before. Their racial bonuses seem pretty good for a sneaky alchemist. Now that I don't have to consider base stats, I am looking more at actual skill bonuses when choosing a race. Khajiit are an even better option and have a great racial power, but then I have to deal with being a cat person (ugh).
I might just give in to the setting and play a goddamn Nord. I've never played an human or -mer (except Orsimer), nor have I ever got melee-oriented, so I'm tempted to do a basic paladin-type. Maybe Imperial; +10 Restoration and +5 Heavy Armor/One-handed/Block makes for a great crusader.

goddamnit maybe I'll make one of every race and play the goddamn fucking intro dungeon ten times AHHHHHHHH
I've done the imperial paladin-type in Oblivion. Blades, illusion, restoration, heavy armor, block, etc. The problem with it was the higher level spells are horribly inefficient if you're a heavy fighter. It takes a century just to be able to use paralyze and it consumes basically all of your magicka. No idea how well it will work in Skyrim. But yeah, a part of me really wants to be a battleaxe wielding Nord too.
And you only need to play the intro once... just create a save file right before the "Are you sure?" moment when exiting the dungeon. Assuming Skyrim has that.

It's what I've done with every other Elder Scrolls game.
I have every single word Patrick Stewart says fucking memorized.

Gonna recreate my last Morrowind character: Face puncher with battlefield control magic. Gonna punch a dragon to death then wear its skull as trophy armor.

It does not. The only choice is race, after all; you can do anything with any character, and races' stat bonuses are really only suggestions. Leveling is based on your preferred skills; a L70 skill is going to add more to your XP pool when it increases than a L35 skill. Basically, you are allowed to specialize any character however you want. There are no major/minor skills.
Birthsigns (which you gain by finding the Standing Stones across the world) will let you choose an overriding bonus, such as the Thief sign granting you +20% Thief-governed skill gains (so Sneak and Pickpocket will increase 20% faster).
EDIT: There is a distinct possibility that since the skeletons of dragons persist as lootable objects forever, you could use them as safe storage chests around the world.
zomg.

Good luck...not sure if punching that hard will be possible based on the discussion in this thread so far.
Why isn't it Friday yet?
Entirely possible. I'm still gonna try through! It'll just take digging through the game to find ways of improving face punching, even if it ends up coming from console commands. I've heard werewolves and vampires are in, maybe werewolves get a boost to punching that's more significant than the Khajit's.

Werewolves just claw like the dickens and run like a dog. Be the bitch you always knew you were.

EDIT2:
I just read a review for Skyrim (leak from atomic magazine or whatever), and things are looking good! GODDAMN FRIDAY WHERE ART THOU!
EDIT: That skill tree looking good! Damn I can't remember when was the last time I was so hyped for some game. With my luck a car will run me over tomorrow or something....
EDIT2: Craze, that video.... I don't know what else to say other than "JIZZ... IN MY PANTS"

That video makes my computer whimper. (There's no way I could run that)
They said they tried to optimize the game much better than Oblivion, saying things like "if you can run Oblivion, you should be able to run this". They totally reworked the engine. Hopefully your PC can handle it, looks like an awesome game.
I guess I'm set though, even if my PC can't handle it (quite possible), my PS3 definitely can :D Sure I will be sacrificing some things like mods (or maybe not), but at least I know I WILL be able to play the game... Though, aiming with magic or bow on the PS3 effing SUCKS compared to mouse.
Yeah, the minimum requirements are almost the same as those recommended for Oblivion.
