@Max : for the 3rd riddle : the only way to have all lying but one is if the Orc killed the Bosmer, then the Khaajiit is the only one telling the truth.

I had that happen to a caged corpse once. It started doing a dance like those Gary's Mod videos on YouTube.
While I agree that an area for cats and lizards and elves (oh my!) would be lame... I also believe in this company to give us an amazing experience. The elves would be kinda cool because they live forever, right? If there is another time jump, they would have a lot of experiences and stories to share. Plus it would give option to some fantastic locations (I'm looking at you LOTR movies). Plus there could be cities of Men. The Empire is everywhere.

REGARDING MAGICKA/STAMINA REGEN:

I did some reading and I'm pretty sure that what happens is that your regen bonuses are taken into effect; however, all regeneration is cut to 1/3 while in combat. So, base regen is, for magicka, 3%/second. With a +50% robe, it's 4.5%/s. While in combat, these would be 1%/s and 1.5%/s.

Still don't get it.

Anyway gang, since nobody asked for them, here are some awesome(ly pathetic) stats:

So far in Skyrim, which I have had for just a few hours over one week, I have spent, if I am reading the numbers on the save/load game screen right:

20 Hours, 29 Minutes, 2 Seconds on my first character.
48 Hours, 47 Minutes, 20 Seconds on my main character.
12 Hours, 29 Minutes, 16 Seconds on my third character.

For a total of 81 Hours, 45 Minutes, and 48 Seconds in Skyrim. In one week. (I am just about to start a Fourth Character, as it has just turned the 1st of Frostfall for my main dude.)

The farthest I have gotten in any questline is the completion of Retaking the Pale in the Imperial Legion questline which is a little more than a third of the way through, I expect: I have not touched the Companions or Stormcloak questlines at all.

The average week (lol) has 168 hours in it. Assuming I sleep around 8 hours a day, I'm awake for around 112 hours a week. I have literally spent around 73% of the time I've been conscious for the past seven days actively playing Skyrim.

Fuck.

(Anyone have stats that will make me feel better?)
I have about 70 hours so I am up there with you. The difference is I haven't gotten a real night's sleep since getting Skyrim. I look hung over every day.

Oh, I've decided that The Lord is the best standing stone. You get 50 armor and 25% magic resist. I think the optimal master-difficulty character is probably a Breton with The Lord. Why? I am just playing on Expert and I still encounter mages that one or two-shot me if they get the chance and ancient dragons' breath is very dangerous even with the 50% fire resist I have from being a dunmer. A Breton with The Lord would have 50% resistance not just to fire but to all magic before items are even factored. I find spell damage to be very significant and mitigating that sounds like priority one on master.

I have been using The Steed on my thief ever since I found Ebony Mail (I hate being slow from heavy armor) and started finding Shadow's invisibility power redundant with my seemingly undetectable sneak at 100 skill plus armor/perk bonuses.

Oh yeah, Legion about your what areas had games tally. I forgot to mention that Cyrodiil and Dawnstar and I think a Hammered city got cellphone games. It doesn't add to the lore too much... But Dawnstar! Skyrim has had 3 adventures. :D

And I thought I was esoteric for remembering Redguard and Battlespire!
I can't make you feel better, Max, but your stats made me feel better :P

The Steed rules, since this game is all about looting. Now if only I could find the ingredients to make potions of carrying....

Of all the stones, it's the Tower that to me stands out as being way underpowered.

How to raise Speech skill: get lazy and just buy your Grand souls off of court wizards for 1000+ gold/pop, so that you can uberenchant your latest set of armor.

How to not have any money: get into Enchanting ;_;

Thanks, after a while I figured it would be something like this. Since it's percentage based, the more magicka, the better. Should be fine later in the game (if spell costs don't go up extremely).

As for standing stones, my current dual wielding nord uses The Lady for the bonus health and stamina regen. Not sure how helpful it actually is, but I didn't like any other stones I encountered so far.

Not quite sure which faction this character will join, just doing some wandering around the map, completing quests as they come. Just received Kyne's Sacred Trials, gonna go hunt some guardian skeever and mudcrab. It's amazing where you can find quests just by chance in this game.

Also, about quests, I like that they sometimes take place in different locations, boosts the replayability a bit.

Side note: Shouldn't have picked alchemy for my nord, I waste so much time just looking at the ground, picking herbs, instead of killing/enjoying the view :) And it levels up sooooo slow, only managed to take it to like 23 so far (that is with 5x training for gold). Though I like the potions/poisons I make, and the perks seem nice. But I really need to put my perk points into heavy armor instead of alchemy, I am too squishy while dual wielding.

The Lady is pretty significant. I used that sign for a while, until I found the Lord which fit my paladin slightly better.

As for Alchemy: to level it, you need to make successful potions. The trial-and-error is fun and useful, but grants you almost no XP. Use the white options on the left that indicate when you have 2+ of an effect, and spam them. It's not like you're not going to have any lack of need for resist fire/ice in this game, after all.

One of the coolest poisons you can make pretty easily is Damage Magicka Regen. It's always regen = 0%; the only factor is time. I think the baseline is 23 seconds, which is... pretty good. If you can tank some magicka and then spank a foe with that poison, you're golden. (Or grey, if you're a Dunmer.)

Random moment:
Found some insanely powerful necromancers who repeatedly killed me, while guarding a dragon word... So I used that warcry or whatever Nords have to fear them. Grabbed the dragon word, turned and ran. Came to a wooden diving board atop a waterfall cliff, with the necromancers regaining their consciousness gave Chase. I was in 3rd person so as I jumped off the diving board I saw a couple of fireball explosions behind me! Escaped unscathed, as I landed in a pool below.
...only to meet the ghost of a bard who did not have my luck.

Skyrim.

Skip to 2:40 IMMEDIATELY, turn your volume to max, and listen to the next sixteen seconds intently.

That quarter-minute long "YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" is the only appropriate response to this anecdote.

Anyway, I have never had any problem raising Alchemy. Snowberries and Purple Mountain Flowers are insanely common; they make a fairly useless Resist Frost potion, but you can make a LOT of it very fast.

I kind of wished that smelting and tanning and cooking raised some skill somehow by some small percentage. Like if cooking something counted as 1/10th of a potion and tanning or smelting something counted as 1/10th of smithing an iron dagger. That'd be neat.

I agree completely. I'm not sure why this doesn't happen in the first place. Hoo-rah, PC master race!

EDIT: GLOVES OF THE PUGILIST gogogogogoogogog Khajiit monk gogogoogogogogogogogogogogogogoogogogogogogogogog (please let this be a unique, always-there item)

EDIT2: oh god oh god oh god my L4 Khajiit monk character deals slightly more damage/blow than my L31 paladin with a sword and fists are probably faster

and this is without that heavy armor perk

MY LIFE: COMPLETE

(you can't block, but that's okay; my MONK obviously has RESTORATION so I'll just use wards and Alteration spells for mastery of the six unarmed stance technique blow grasshoppers)
The alchemy system in Oblivion was already tons of fun and they managed to improve it once again. The only thing I can think of that they could do to make it even better would be to randomize properties of ingredients each time you start a new game.

Hmm, so Deathbell has both the Damage Health and Weakness to Poison properties. If I combine it with two other ingredients to make a potion with both of these effects, which effect will happen first?

Every single Dwarven ruin I've come across has been sealed off/key locked with no way to get inside hinted at. I've found at least four ruins sealed off like this, including Mzulft, Mzinchaleft, and most recently Avanznchel (spelling on all of those is obviously a crapshoot; this is Dwemer we're talking about).

Any hints on how to get in, guys? I can't wait to explore 'dem Dwemer ruins. They were my favorite part of Morrowind.
I only found one dwarven ruin, had to climb all the way up to a balcony, only to find a barred door inside... Those ruins are probably connected to a quest or something.

BUT (there is one they fear... haha), I did explore one cave full of Falmer and Chaurus, that connected to a collapsed dwarven ruin, got a quick look, then got obliterated by some giant automaton/golem/thing, in a mere second. Dwarven ruins seem suited for higher level characters :)

Don't remember the name of the cave, but I could take a look, my nord character has a save inside, I am currently focusing on my Imperial Sword and Board character, shield is so much fun, and it's so much safer than dual-wielding.
