BOSS BATTLE DESIGN CONTEST - KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Are the entries going to be anonymized for judging? That'd probably be a pretty wise choice, to keep this from becoming a popularity contest.
Yeah, I can do that.
SUBMISSION METHOD HAS CHANGED. Entries should now be sent to me via private message, instead of being posted publically in this topic. When all entries have been sent to me, I will post them in this topic myself so that they are effectively anonymous.
I may enter if I can find enought free time till the 19th.
One question:
I am from Germany. We mostly don't include the RTP files there in the game, because everyone and their mother has the RTP downloaded. Do we have to include everything from the RTP we need here?
Edit:
Just found an answer a page before. So standalone it is, okay.

Hmm... I wonder if I can get something done in 8 days?
I may still try even though i have like 6 days. As long As I don't need all-original graphics I may be able to do it.
Maybe

I kind of thought boss fights were like final exams for what we had just learned. Like getting a bow and arrow and needing to shoot the eyes out of something's skull. Or getting bombs and needing to feed something bombs...

ShortStar, I agree: I think that's a great way to make boss battles, and taking them out of context causes them to lose something. Maps also exist within a greater context and lose much of their meaning without it; however, we have contests for map creation regularly. I'm hoping people can overcome this dilemma for this contest as well as they do for the mapping contests.
I can think of several ways to handle a boss battle that do not strictly require normal battles beforehand - you can rely on basic player knowledge of the genre, you can add detailed tooltips to your abilities to remove confusion, you can give the player a tutorial, or you can have the battle start out simple and ramp up in complexity as it goes.
So far I've gotten one entry. Keep at it, guys!

I really think the 2 weeks time limit is pretty tight. This should take a lot more time than a single map, especially considering you have to invent the entire player party just for this one fight as well.
I probably won't make it to make something new - however, A few days before I heard of this contest I started a game similar to the "Boss Project" series. I already released the first boss, but the second one is pretty much finished and wasn't released yet. Also, all skills are unique - could I use this one, or would it somehow be against the rules?
As said, the boss wasn't released, but wasn't really planned for this contest.

I had made a lot of really good progress but Skyrim was a huge hit to my momentum.
I still plan on finishing.

good. I'm bowing out. Not enough time or inclination right now- but i'm hoping to do a bit omn the chain game if possible.
Maybe I'll poop something out. There's an idea I've been toying with that is mostly the reverse of what I expect people will be doing.
I'm starting over again, since I seem to be stuck generating the same damn gimmick every time. Maybe I'll get something done before the cutoff.
