MISAOS NOMINATION REMINDER

Yeah, this is for games that had a download added in 2011.

Ankylo has informed me the misaos voting code is done! So that's good news. Once the nomination phase is over we can start the Voting phase - expect that to happen in January.

Also, we are getting closer to my 700 nomination goal, but not quite there yet!

I nominated what few I could. I did my part for once!!!
Gah! I keep forgetting to do this! I'll have to do it...later...or now.
I did the 4th quarter (so far!) roundup.

For game ideas, you can check out my game roundups:

They could vote for Super RMN Br-pffffffff hahahahahahaha nevermind, yeah, what you said is true.
Edit :

I find somewhat curious the selection of which category a demo may apply to, as it seems that they may be nominated for best character design and best non-rpg but not best setting for instance. Is there a rationale that I missed ? (or is it only the case for those demos that I was interested in ?)
I have no idea what the rationale was for what categories the demos would apply to. I will review it for 2012's Misaos (if they happen :< )
I'm wondering if the categories could be a little bit more light hearted and less serious. Everyone of them seems to be GAM OF THE FUCKIN YEARR. I think I brought it up awhile back, but these categories seem more aligned with the VGAs or something when there are very few people voting.

i wonder why i still care about the misaos...

I don't. Ever since the last two years, I've lost total interest. That doesn't mean that the rest of RMN doesn't enjoy it, but I really think the whole process needs to change. I'm really tired of just seeing one or two games hog all the awards while the other projects get nothing -- same with demos beating out full version games for some reason. *sigh* Either way...we'll see how this year goes.
Demos should apply to nothing except the most promising demo category. We're just contributing to this site's worship of vaporware.
My game haves been being created since 2009, haves over 35 characters to play as, multiple game mode and is not evn at his 50% completion. It doesnt deserve to be nominated because that????
It can still be nominated when it's completed. B-)
Yeah, stupid will of the people. I don't like voting for politiciansgames either.

I would agree that some new categories would be nice, but having these awards is a nice incentive. Something to strive for, ya know?

If a game hogs this particular spot of light, kudos to it, maybe it deserves it? There's other light to be had on the main page.(gamespots, featured, buzzing...)

It's a fighting game on an RPG site. Your audience is pretty limited to begin with. The game won't fit many categories, anyways.

I don't think you get the problem. There's no point in having 12 categories with "best x" if all of them are the same thing. It's like having the same game plastered over the front page (SPOTLIGHT,LATESTSCREENSHOTS,LATESTDOWNLOAD etc). Might as well just have "best demo" and "best complete game" and get rid of the rest by your thinking.

Which is somewhat right... The unnecessary categories should be replaced with more varied ones "most scary" "vaportits" (aka coolest game that was cancelled) "coolest title" "most charsets murdered" "funniest game" "best 100% custom graphics" "most fucked up game" "coolest minigame" categories that aren't just about ultimate quality but uh standing out (aka excelling in different ways) you know, for fun.

That sounds like your way of thinking, not mine. If a game is good all-around and had lots of fans that decide to vote and it wins all categories, so what? If it's a really a problem, then cap a game at winning 3 or 4 categories.

Having standard categories on characters, story, gameplay is a good idea. Maybe if there were more outstanding games and people voting the outcome would be more varied. I agree that maybe the system should be tweaked, but it's still pretty valid.

Some of those categories are good, and would spice things up. But it doesn't mean the basic ones should be removed. The more the merrier.
Can we get an update on how many votes we have in?

I was curious about that too. I mean, I don't think a demo should win anything like Game of the Year, but if it does show some really impressive visual/technical prowess, it could be worthy of a vote. I wanted to nominate a demo I've seen for its great visuals and mapping, but that category seems to be unavailable for it.
I wonder how many people are holding off releasing their game this month just so that they can qualify for next year's MISAOs and garner some fans lol.
