(HELP WANTED) REQUESTING: MAPPER FOR DRAGON FANTASY REMAKE

Hello everyone! Back again for more requesting, as you may (should) have noticed at this point. To get straight to the point (and if the title didn't give it away already), I'm looking for a mapper to, well, map for me! It is most definitely my LEAST favorite part of game creation, and it frustrates me more than anything else. I'd much rather work on battles, dialogue, etc. Basically anything IN a map! But because I usually dwell in the land of NES graphics, this usually isn't a problem for me... but I want to finally move OUT of that, and try something new for a change! However I just cannot get into mapping with SNES-like chipsets, and because of this my skills are severely lacking, leaving me to spend countless hours on a few maps that I usually have to remake a dozen times or so just to get something decent out of them. That, or they're only "okay," and are just there to say there's SOMETHING to explore and play in.

Anyway, yeah... a mapper! That'd be awesome. Everything else I can do, but mapping is something I just dislike. If you'd like a list of games that I've made, just check out my profile! I'm fully capable of finishing a game, and have fully completed several decently-sized RPG Maker projects.

Can I pay you? No. That's out of the question, but you'll still be listed in the credits! And I'm fairly well known (sorta...), so you're name should definitely get out there in the very least. I'm not in any rush, and you'd be able to work at your own leisure, but I WILL be checking up every now-and-then just to see how things are coming along (and as a reminder, if need be!)

What's the project? It's a remake of both my most popular and downloaded title: Dragon Fantasy (the first one). It's being remade using RPG Maker 2000, and is using the RTP-style chip and charactersets that a lot of games before it have been using for quite a while now. Still, I like the style and if people don't like it, well... they don't have to play it! Simple, really.

The maps will not have to be anything too extravagant, but it'd be nice to have some eye-pleasing work in a Dragon Fantasy game (or any of my projects, really) for once. Not only that, but the game its self is not very long at all, and only plays for roughly 20~ hours at most, and most of that is because of the grinding and what-not that was (and still is) in there. Of course I'll be looking for samples of maps you've completed and what-not if you plan to apply, but I'm not very hard to please, trust me!

My overall goal is to do a faithful, up-to-date remake of my very first fully completed RPG Maker game. With over 5000 downloads and counting, I think it deserves it! I just need a good mapper to help fully realize what this game can truly look like.

And what IS Dragon Fantasy like, anyway? Think Dragon Warrior meets Final Fantasy (thus the name!) Or at least that's what I was thinking back when I first made it. It's a traditional turn-based RPG modeled after old-school classics like Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy 1-3. It doesn't (or didn't, rather) focus heavily on the story or characters, but rather on exploration and fighting. I'm still hoping to retain all of that, except with a bit more emphasis on the story this time around.

Anyway, thank you for reading! If you have any more questions, etc., please comment!

Ephiam.

I would but I honestly dislike the NES-era type graphics... I can't stand them.
If you're remaking it, don't make the Dragon Quest part of it dominate the final fantasy part of the graphics like with DF2. (I'm horrid at mapping, so i can't help.)

Do you plan on making a third one to end the series?
@Supremewarrior:
Well that's just it, I'm remaking the game so that it will no longer look like an NES game! It's going to be modeled after a SNES-era game this time around (like every other RPG Maker game, pretty much...).

These are from what I currently have of the remade version:

So it's going to be in that style, pretty much. Or I would LIKE it to be, rather.

Granted there's nothing wrong with those maps, but I just really do not like mapping. Lol. It's what keeps me from doing more than I could with RPG Maker, to be honest.

@Arandomgamemaker:
I don't plan on making a third game any time soon, but if I did it would be after both the first and second games are (hopefully) remade. Even then, if I pull it off right then I might not need a third game at all!

Ah! You are converting to SNES version now, then? It looks interesting, but please don't use anything from the RTP.
None of the maps are going to be made using RTP, but the charactersets and what-not will be present (as seen by the old lady in screenshot #2 up there!)
In that case sign me up! I find mapping relatively easy depending on the chipset mostly. If you want a resume check out my Zombie Outbreak profile!

I don't quite get the difference you make between RTP and ripp offs seen 1000 times, to me it's all the same.

Edit : unless you mean the ripp offs are prettier, that's a fact.

Yes. Rip-offs are always prettier.

Yeah, it'll have to be that the rip-offs are prettier. Ha ha! =P

@Supremewarrior:

Awesome. But if you don't mind, I'd like to request a little something... and that would be a map made using one of the following chipsets:

Also, you can leave the world map to me. THAT'S a map that I wouldn't mind working on. =P
Can you reupload them as .png because RPG Maker 2003 doesn't support JPEG format.
I'll be using RPG Maker 2000 for this project, by the way (as mentioned in the body of the top post). But yeah, I should have noticed that. D'OH! Excuse me, they'll be changed in a moment!

EDIT:
They've been fixed!
id like to offer a suggestion, instead of using the Mac Tiles (which are great, they are just over used.) Why not use the Dragon Warrior chipsets from the SNES era? I think it would still give it the old school feel while at the same time breaking away from the nes style stuff.

EDIT:
Also, if you use RM2K3 i will be willing to design your battle character sets.

Agreed! I forgot about the Dragon Warrior titles on the SNES.

Yeah, they are very vibrant and colorful. with that old school flare.
me lol.....if so im glad :). I know im a nobody around here lol, but its nice to help people now and again. That is, when a situation comes up that I can actually help with.
@Jparker1984:
I thought about doing that, but I really want to make a game using the Mac tiles and RTP-ish characters. I love the look of them for whatever reason, and they just appeal to me. Also, I'd LOVE to have someone make me some BattleChars, but I'd rather not switch from RM2K to 2K3 at this point. I've finished working on near all of the database, and transferring the project from one maker to the other at this point would just mess a lot of things up. Not only that, but the original was made using RM2K, and I want to try and keep it relatively close the original in certain aspects.

Thank you for the offer and ideas, though! Hopefully I can keep you in mind for the future...? Ha ha. =P

@Supremewarrior:
I don't know... I mean the map isn't bad by any means, but I think you could do better! How about trying another one? Maybe a cave, a tower, or half of a town? Just some suggestions, 'cause I really want to see a dungeon by you. =O

Yesterday when I looked at the farm I was iffy, but it's started to grow on me for whatever reason. So I definitely think you've got it, but I just want something else to go off of.
