RM2K3 BATTLE SYSTEM?

So I just recently started using RM2k3 again, since I've had an extreme drought of resources for VX. Anyway, is there a way to change the Battle System of 2k3 so that characters are offscreen?
You could create empty animation sets to use for your characters that would give the appearance of them being off screen.
If your game doesn't require the few specific functions that 2k3 doesn't have in common with its precursor, you might want to try working in Rm2k, if you're trying to get back to a front view battle aesthetic, that is.

2k? Is the actual craft of games similar is is it drastically different?
You see, I love VX, as it's pretty easy to use, for the most part. The problem is, there aren't any resource generators to make the sprites/faces I'm looking for, so I'm forced to not use it. Then, with 2003, there are no battlechars that fit what I'm looking for, but a plethora of facesets and charsets, as well as the incredibly in-depth charas project. I really would love to continue using VX, but there's no way for me to.

2k and 2k3 are basically the same program, (you can even import your game into a 2k3 version but not the other way around). Only difference I think is the sideview and class system (and some other minor ones). Oddly enough 2k seems to have more custom patch support. Anyway yeah, just go with 2k, it has front view.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Outside of battles, RM2K is almost an exact carbon copy of RM2K3. There are only extremely minor differences, like the maximum number of pictures you can show on the screen at once. There are patches to RM2K that can fix most if not all of these minor differences.
In battles, RM2K uses a turn-based battle system with a first-person perspective while RM2K3 uses an ATB battle system with a side-view perspective. They are pretty different in that regard.
None of the RPG Makers are drastically different from each-other, though.
Also, be aware that you can use RM2K3 resources in RMVX. It just takes a little work to put them in the right format. Hell, I think there's even an automatic converter out there. But your game will look like crap if you mix the two together - you would need to make sure every tileset, sprite, enemy, animation, and other graphic in your game is 16 bit instead of 32 bit. Resolution inconsistency will make people cringe.

author=DarkenYou are wrong, there are a number of differences from 2k to 2k3. Sure there are alot alike, but they are also a good bit different.

1) The level cap went from 50, to 99.
2) It supports MP3s.
3) HP and MP can now be four digits.
4) The side view battle system
5) The in battle commands such as using switches and variables and showing messages, got a good bit more expansive. Thus enabling you to do more.
6) More pictures at one time.
There is more I am sure, but I would have to look. No dis respect or nothing to LockeZ, but 2K3 is for sure not a carbon copy of 2K. So all in all, there is a easy way around your issue as Killer Wolf Stated. So I recommend 2K3.
Oh, then 2k won't work. All of my music is in mp3, and while I'm sure there is some converter somewhere, it sounds much better and, well, is somehow easier to be sorted for me.
There is nothing really wrong with 2K, but 2K3 is just a better engine is my opinion. Be warned, the MP3s will make your game have a large file size.
RM2K VALUE!, also known as RM2K v1.51, added support for MP3 so that narrows the differences between RM2K and RM2K3 even more.

I get the feeling you're giving Enterbrain too much credit.

Lol maybe...er, probably. Honestly though I think of it as enough of an improvement to be more then a mere carbon copy.
I think it would be best to convert resources from 2k/3 format to VX rather than downgrading, though.

Download Audacity. Export MP3 to OGG. Can use in 2k, sounds the same, smaller file size.

I agree with this a lot more then going with 2k. I would however say, if you would choose to go with vx, id wait till vx ace comes out. From what I read and seen, vx ace is freaking awesome. Its looks like VX combined with 2K3.

Neither RM2K nor RM2K3 have support for OGG.
Mystery Man Zero did something of the sort.
