You're not fooling anyone, Killer Wolf, that Cyberpunk game looks awesome!
@Max
Goblin I think. Also yes, adorable story indeed!
@KillerWolf
Even your older work is amazing. It seems to share some elements from shadowrun - which is pretty cool imo (also because I read Neuromancer for one of my class ages ago).
Oh and, Mystery story huh, one of my project is also Mystery/Light horror based story ; although my inspiration would be Max's Eldrich (Not as "messed" up universe though) and SNES game Darklaw : Meaning of Death.
Either that or some more Robots.

If memory serves, it was Gobli the Goblin who wanted to become a boss.
Thanks for the compliments on my older work! This topic has me toying with the idea of firing up my old games, or at least the ones that haven't been corrupted yet, and recording commentary lets plays for them. Basically a big Mea Culpa of all the things I've (hopefully) learned to do better by now!
Aside from playing the SNES version up to a glitch on the oil tanker/ship with the oozes, I didn't have much experience with Shadowrun. I've read Neuromancer, even played the old adventure game based on it. I usually end up with some combination of Snow Crash, Neuromancer, and Johnny Mnemonic (story and movie), with a generous helping of Philip K Dick style identity paranoia thrown in for good measure. Heck, in one game that didn't even get off the drawing board, the player would have activated their skills from a menu that was made to look like the inside of their mouth, in honor of the dental switchboard Gulliver Foyle has installed in The Stars my Destination.
Using my face/personality for the main character in the Archangel game was a bad idea, because later on, the story went places I wasn't comfortable putting myself. Also, it wasn't 100% accurate to me. Sometimes I remembered to write him with the personality I wanted him to have, other times I just wrote him to act how I figure I would in a situation. It made him appear to suffer regular psychotic breaks. Once I realized what I'd been doing, I even tried to JUSTIFY this in the story, about his essence being damaged during the fall, but by that point I was just swabbing the deck of a sinking ship.
While I'm not really working on a new take on it yet, I have been doing artwork and function tests. The biggest change, aside from a major gameplay style shift, is that the character isn't me at all anymore, so I can really pull the rug out from under him if I do decide to make it a full fledged project, or at the very least write him consistently!
Story is a huge part of the creation process for me, and aside from pure mechanical failure (or failure on my part to event my way around a roadblock), it is what kills most of my projects. When I start writing a new game/story/song whatever, I get tunnel vision. As I continue to develop the ideas, the vision opens back up and I become conscious again of similar themes/plot points/vocal hooks. Several of my games died when I realized they were just "_Game name here_ with a little twist."
An example: About halfway through the first hub area and attending sidequests, I realized that Archangel turned out to be Deus Ex meets the Prophecy.

So you were the fallen angel, interesting, all your maps are basically really good, and the stories seem a priori, interesting, yes, I guess too bad you didn't finish anyone of hem, though, if I'm not mistaking, you're actually doing one somewhat in that style?

SNES Shadowrun is SO FUCKING GOOD. Arglbargl SUCH A GOOD AND UNDERATED GAME.
Killer Wolf would kind of have an amazing body of work if he'd finished even half of his projects. : )

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

author=Killer WolfSee, my projects all start that way, and then gradually morph until the original concept is unrecognizable. Though I guess they just end as being similar to something else instead. It's unavoidable. Every piece of fiction ever created can accurately be described as <other piece of fiction> with a little twist. You can avoid plagiarism and you can try to avoid cliche, but you can't ever avoid being suspiciously similar to something else.
Several of my games died when I realized they were just "_Game name here_ with a little twist."
Best you can do is avoid knowing what other work your work is suspiciously similar to. It won't help your originality but it might help your conscience and motivation. Unfortunately to do this you have to avoid getting much feedback about your work from genre-savvy people, at least until you're done. So I recommend just embracing the fact that your story's been done before, and finishing your version of it. If you try to edit it or start over, you'll be editing and starting over until the end of time.
Case in point, it wasn't until I was most of the way finished with Vindication that I first played Suikoden 2. (Yeah, I know, I was late to the game.) Oh, whoops, one of my main characters is basically Jowy, except he keeps being playable after joining the enemy empire. And Suikoden 2 is one of the most highly respected RPGs of all time, so this level of extreme similarity was actually kind of a big deal. Did I go back and rewrite the plot events to make his story more different? No. I left him as he was and advertised my game as HEY THIS GAME HAS PLAYABLE JOWY. (Though I quickly dropped this advertising campaign because I felt that it was too big of a spoiler.)
This is a really nice thread! There's so much interesting stuff to look at... I too, have been wanting to show some of my old crappy work to the world, but I didn't want to pollute any of the existing 'developer' threads with it. But now I finally can! - But first a short wishlist...
Cosmos Chronicles
My very first attempt at making a game. This was just about a kid named Cosmos doing stuff around his town... Brace yourselves! xD

WhAt WaS I ThInKiNg?

Awesome pre-rendered backgrounds!

Amazing cinematic cut-scenes!
Chrono Evolution
This was a game I was making with some old friends. It was your typical CT fangame trying to link the events between CT and CC. Saving Schala and all that jazz. The protagonist was a descendant of Crono, and referred to Balthasar as his 'uncle'. The end of the demo was this cool minigame of the hero escaping from a space-time distortion across Zenan bridge. And if you managed to reach the end, his Epoch hoverboard suddenly activated and transported him back in time... Yes, you read that right. Epoch Hoverboard. Aren't you envious of my creativity? xP

I'm still kinda proud of this one, actually.

The game was set in the distant future of 2004!

Is difficult to get to 80mph in such a bumpy road!
Requiem of the Stars
Where's that Snes Rpg title thread? xD ...This was sort of a community game, starring my long lost rm buddies and me as the heroes. It was supposed to be a cartoony, lighthearted game, but many of the ideas I had for it have been evolving with the years and recycled in what today is Nightfall, my current project. - I also did hundreds of maps for this game so it was quite a blow when my old PC died and I lost it all.

Needs moar LensFlare.

I was so proud of my comic sans font back then...

And of my crappy Bryce3D backgrounds as well...

See? Zomg! Custom graphix!
Oblivion? The final gate? The last one?
I don't know, this project was changing name and concept all the time. But it involved stabbing shadows with a knife, that's for sure. - This was my first and remains my last attempt to date at fully custom graphics/systems. I had lots of fun shaping this thing from the ground up and seeing it slowly taking form, but as I mentioned before, my old PC died and I lost everything. Then I said: "Screw it! From now on, rips it is!"

My title screens kept getting worse...

Noob pixel art + Poor color choices =

Keep at it. You'll kill that thing.... eventually.

Is that a gun? Then why don't you use it!?
Khaos
The title is supposed to say "The true nature of God" or something about sausages, I'm not sure. - This was a dumb story about a small-town boy stumbling upon an ancient spaceship and using it to fight God... Who incidentally, is who we have to thank that I never went pass the intro and a lame attempt at a worldmap with this thing. I still like the overall looks of it, though.

Xenosaga much? ...Pathetic, I know. =(

I still like this one, as cheesy as it sounds.

Lines in maps are always random, right guys?
Hyperborea
This was about a once glorious country now ravaged by war and whatnot. It was supposed to be an stealth/survival game. I was working on some poorly-thought mechanics like looking for food/shelter, tending for wounds, etc. I remember the battles were pretty unforgiving too, as any soldier could just insta-kill you. Dunno why I thought that was fun and challenging. =/

Wish you were here~

Oops! It turns out it sucks in here.

Is the secret police! Run to Canada!
And then there's the rm2k version of Nightfall that dates from like 2007. Before I lost a big chunk of work thanks to that damned Lucifer error and later decided to start all over in rm2k3 in 2009. But I guess it doesn't really counts as 'ancient' since I'm still working on that idea from time to time... Whoa! Somehow this posts feels like a huge weight off my shoulders. I dunno why...
Anyway. *raises glass* Here's for another decade of wasted time, everyone! Cheers! xD
Edit: @supremewarrior. Sure, check my locker. =P
Chancellor Yakra: Ace Attorney
I have no clue about how these 'Ace Attorney' games play, but this idea sounds awesome enough to make me want to play this one. Even if you have pretty much spoiled the plot for us already, it would be neat to see how you pull it off, and what else you can come up with. So yeah, go ahead and finish this game!
FF6 Battle System & Lufia2 System
I also had the intention to post in that thread of yours, but I forgot! x_X - All your maps are superb, and you are a very good scripter too! ...You really have to release those two systems. Build a small game around them with just a couple of quests. Or perhaps just a single dungeon would do. I don't know, just do it!
Pretty much anything by Killer Wolf
While Cyberpunk themed games and other 'dark and gritty' stuff ( like that maze game you're currently making, for example) aren't my cup of tea gameplay or otherwise... I can appreciate the will to bring something different to the table, and all in all you make them look good enough for me to want to try them.
And last but not least. Cheers to s_w!
Man, your sprites pack so much punch that is heartbreaking to see you haven released any games yet... You're still working on that robots game, right? Last time you posted a screen of it I noticed an improvement both on their shading and overall design. So keep up the good work, man!

O-old games...Ahoy a list <A<;
I was one of those use placeholders people. And there were more games but I can't find any screenies of them uploaded in my old photobucket ;_; One of them was an ms paint horror game haha...
EDIT: LOOKING BACK THESE ARE ALL SHAMEFUL
Lost Sonata
This was ...Archeia's backstory game. My 2nd Rm2k3 game too. Then I tried to remake it at one point but lol.
Advent Cirno
The story of Advent Cirno isn't the same as in the manga...at least completely. The story of this Advent Cirno is that the Touhou characters were actually normal people and that they discovered the portal to Gensokyo which is a place formed with people's thoughts. So when Cirno and Rumia got in, the world they saw was some FF + Touhou Canon place since more people discovered it's existence. What was once a private paradise turned into a battle ground on who could claim it.
Sacred Moon
This used to be a main Division Heaven episode but it changed massively. It's about 3 separate factions that discovered the existence of a biological weapon called the Lunium. This weapon causes a huge shift and is actually an intelligent being that chooses it's owner. There's two types, a male and a female. When a female interacts with male, the male dies.
It's a complicated story but one of them is that you get to choose from the 3 factions, the Arcana 13 (Ocean's 13 lol) was a group that is in charge of the containment of the Lunium which is under the direct supervision of the "Divisions." Then the government group called the Illusionsts were also doing the same except they're also taking care of Lunium infected rebels (The Rebellion). You control 2 brothers (Genesis and Ezra) and man...it's a huge story. Also, this is probably the only game where I actually have an airship called the Eternal Winter, in 3d, in all angles. Lol.
Touhou Kesshouka: Massive Blooming Crystals
It's a Touhou fangame in MoTK and the only ones working were Skie, Me and Hao. We quit ofc since it's supposed to be a team game but we're the only ones working. Heh.
Persona 4 Fangame
This one is a huge cluster of wtfery. The game is a total change in the persona storyline. The Mayonaka TV/Midnight Channel is actually some D&D-esque place and people all over Inaba who saw is given a choice to play the Shadow Game. Which results to them revealing their true selves unintentionally as well. Also Teddie is the game master. It was a collab and of course the idea changed and was never done~
Dungeon Hack
Where do I begin? Imagine all RM characters went aboard the same train. Then 2 RM Heroes from Adela Isra decided to hijack it and then the train went loose off tracks, everyone died (except the 2 ironically) and is struggling to get out of the 7 Circles of hell and trying NOT TO kill each other. That's basically Dungeon Hack. I wanted to make roguelike/dungeon crawler game back then :c
Lost Seraph/Seraphim Project/Vjolnir Scienda
I still want to finish this game someday. The old story is about some Norse Living Weapons that the gods created to destroy Midgard and the other worlds because there was a war. It's weird in a sense. There's also some crazy Sage/Scientist that wanted to find the Vessel. I want to say more but I plan to get around it someday :3
<SUPER OLD

Eternal Circle
A Division Heaven episode that is a VN (Around 6.5 I believe). The story was that, a huge emp energy was located in the middle of the city is now unreachable. Cesar was sent there to investigate and never returned. Archeia went ahead along with a battle priest named Joseph. When they got there, they found themselves inside a battle royale called Nirvana. I remember the cast is around, an assassin named Shamsir, a feminist scientist, a mechanical puppeteer, a man named E, and so on and so forth.
Project Contractor
Its old name was like, Reincarnation and focuses on one protagonist named Russel, I'm still using its story base but...well compared to the new one, let's just say the old one was heh.
Night of Marian: School Edition

It exists btw. Just that it never ends ;-;
Tier Tiem
Good grief this game. I want to get back to it someday but what was I doing with it.

Aye, that was it. Gobli the Goblin.
@AlterEgo
Thanks, I want to see your games finished as well. Lots of nice spriting and unique look for each of them! Also, the reason my games never got finished? I got too ambitious with spriting. It is precisely the spriting (which I tend to enjoy most) that halt the whole production. That and laziness.
And we can check other people's lockers? Wow, I feel really dumb now.
@Ness
I remember that chart you made that represent story paths (Sacred Moon was it?). It end with "everyone dies" Good times. And whoa, Nostalgia. Those screens sure have been around for a long time since GW.

Oh god the flowchart of horrors. Yeah no matter what path you take, EVERYONE dies. No exceptions XD

Is that MEANT to be just straight up the character Cloud Strife on the left there?

Advent Cirno is your equivalent of ancient trash? It's still more slick and polished than anything I could release today, even accounting for stylistic differences.
Sacred Moon--I hate the visual style of everything but the battles, but that's probably personal preference talking. Also I could be looking at the game during different points in its history, I don't know. The story sounds pretty epic. Is that sweet airship original 3D art?

I have this terrible feeling...deep in the pit of my stomach...that the Engrish used here was an intentional stylistic choice.
Dungeon Hack
Now with this train crash, did you mean just your RM characters or like, everyone's? Anyway I like how this project has no stylistic consistency at all, in terms of its art assets. There are like 18 visual styles on display.

This might be a good time to mention that I have no idea what Touhou is. The same goes for Division Heaven and lots of other terms you mentioned. I can't tell what is or isn't a fangame or not or how much.

This entire game looks completely amazing. You should really finish this.

Is it me or are those girls PEEING MISSILES?

hahawtfyes
MAX HIDE DEM IN HIDE TAGS THEY'RE CLUTTERING THE PAGE WITH THEIR BADNESS ;-;
Yes
I didn't draw it ;A;
I made the logo to be close to ff7 AC as much as possible tho UvU
Yes. You're looking at it from it's different points of history. And yes the Eternal Winter is an original design :)
Yes.

And yes not just mine but other people too~
Division Heaven is all original (that is also the name of my site~) and Touhou is a fangame :)
But I don't have it anymore ;A;
It's animated damnit ;_;
I'm glad that you enjoyed it 8D

I won the "Worst RPG Maker Game Ever" award at Don's old ezBoard forums with this awesome game too.
