This comes as a surprise to me too, but that's probably because all the women in my family gets their ears pierced before we can even crawl. Even some of my male cousins have pierced ears.

Yeah I got one of my ears pierced when I was...14 I think? I let it close up when I joined the military, but yeah, a lot of guys do it as well.
Just make certain to keep your ears clean as you heal so they don't get infected- but I'm sure the piercer already told you that.
My mom always wore clips- I wonder if she ever had it done when she was younger? I'd considered, but decided against, having my own ears pierced; however, my avs often have them to show my kinky side.

I've been hearing about how I need to pierce my ears for almost 20 years now (mostly from my grandmother, go figure). I wanted to go ahead and do it so that my friends and family would pick something else to pick at me about. That and it's something pretty to make me feel feminine and whatnot.
But yeah, it's really weird for me to not have had them done when I was little. I'm like the only one of my friends who didn't get it done when I was like 1! Ha!
@BurningTyger: The lady who pierced them warned me about keeping them clean but I appreciate the extra warning. The last thing I want happening is them getting infected, turning black and falling off or something.

It's a body adornment. Yeah it's technically pointless next to FOOD/WATER but they're meant to look good.
