NEOCLASSICAL POWER METAL

Haha I love this shit!!! Mostly the bands from Japan that sing in Engrish.

My favorite bands here:

Japan:
Galneryus
MinstreliX
Prophesia
Eyes of Fenrir
Marchen Station

Ukraine:
Conquest

Spain:
Dark Moor

Sweeden:
Reinxheed

I know more bands I like, but I'm too lazy to keep linking stuff haha.

The music is fast, lots of awesome solos on each track for almost all bands, and man, the artwork! the artwork!!! it's amazing... they look like covers from RPGs. The lyrics are mostly based on Fantasy stuff, which I also like. There are many reasons why I like this type of music, mostly because of all the related stuff they have on the type of work that I do and the stuff I'm into. :)

Sample Artwork from Dragon Guardian (not linked here though), another Japanese PM band:

This one looks animeish, but check the other bands and you'll see different ones, more western style fantasy artwork.

And sample artwork from Minstrelix, also my favorite band. :)

I also like Punk Rock / Ska... but this music so far is doing it as of present.

How is "neoclassical" power metal different from regular power metal? I can't hear any difference.

I love this shit also (not heard any of the Japanese crap), but I love it with tongue pretty firmly in cheek...except when I'm high. Then I like it COMPLETELY UNIRONICALLY.

(Actually one of the things I like about being high is that it takes me from smug hipster douchebag attitude of liking things "ironically" to just being really positive and accepting of everything.)

If you give me your e-mail address, I'll share my Pandora with you for the station full of this silly shit that I listen to when RMing. Might be some new (to you) stuff on there that you'd dig (like Avantasia, Edguy and Hammerfall).

And I'm sure I don't need to mention the long-running joke of awesome that is Dragonforce.
Oh yeah I love power metal (somewhat with the tongue placed in a certain location), though I don't understand why it has to be called neoclassical in this case.

In Finland we have loads of great power metal. Including (but not limited to) DINOSAURS SINGING POWER METAL FOR CHILDREN!

(Apparently the biggest selling album for the year it came out)

Holy shit it's apparently so popular there are TWO bands doing the same thing!

This is awesome beyond belief and ensures the growth of a new generation of power metal fans.

I don't really know what neoclassical means in terms of music, but, here are some of my favorite power metal songs:

Dead sound of misery

Ride into Obsession

Max Mcgee= Heard them all already! :P I've been listening to a lot of PM bands to see which ones I like and so on.

A flowchart for the uninitiated:

I was listening to Guns n' Roses since before you were born, kiddo.
Thank you kentona that makes a whole lot of sense now.

Violins eh.

Folk Metal is the best.

Kentona that chart is the best thing.

Soooo much truth in it.
LOL gotta show that chart to my buddies, excellent.

When it comes to Power Metal bands though, you can't go wrong with earlier Sonata Arctica albums :) (I saw them live and they sounded amazing, although the keyboardist was so drunk I thought he may pass out).
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I need instrumental-only versions of some of these songs so I can use them in my game.

I've been doing that for a while now. : )
Me too, 8 bit renditions though :P
I couldn't listen to Deckiller's first video because apparently it's not available for my country...crap. Also, I like certain metal. According to Kentona's chart I like Power metal.
I feel out of touch now! I only know Dark Moor. I enjoy the singer's "engrish".
