REAL SOCIAL ISSUES IN VIDEOGAMES

DEATH WAS TERRIFIC YES
Also, my biggest beef with the social link system is that it doesn't carry over into the absolutely terrible, overly-long school event cutscenes.

I thought Persona 3 and 4 were very well done in terms of portraying actual teenagers. They were certainly leagues above most JRPG teens who given a sword and sent to fight the demon lord when they turn 15. I never attended a Japanese high school but I still identified with the main characters and their issues. Who hasn't had to deal with a part of their personality that they don't want to accept? Yes it usually does not culminate in a huge battle with a physical, demonic manifestation of your other self, but the issues were still very real.
I agree. The teenagers in P4, I thought, were very realistic--at least compared to most RPGs. Yosuke and Yukari in particular (although I didn't always like them).
Comparing P3/4 to P2 is a little unfair...because, well, P2 is sort of in a league of its own. =P

Being too scared to be yourself in front of people who supposedly love you isn't a real issue. A real issue is not having enough food to feed yourself, yet alone your own family... or something that doesn't sound like Oxfam wrote it.
Yeah it's not like problems are relative to individuals or anything like that that's just silly.
Persona 3 or 4 whatever suffer from very blank characters with POSITIVE TRAIT, NEGATIVE TRAIT huh here comes literal in your face "im ur dark side, heh, fight a boss battle to conquer thyself!" I cannot seem to get past the first quarter of p4 due to not really the lack of depth, but because I'm so burnt out after pushing 100 hours into persona 3 it is just UGH SCAN->AGI-> PERSONA SWITCH -> APPROPRIATE SKILL UGH GRIND UGH 136TH FLOOR UGH.
I think the only unmixed reason why I went through Persona 3 was due to the social links but not because "wow they are so human i want to fall in love with them and hang wall scrolls of them" it was more to do with the coolness of walking up to THE DEVIL before the middle of the night at some shopping mall and seeing how it would escalate. With 4 it has that and the scooby doo premise along the entire story, but im sorry....i am...too.. tired to go on... the dungeons... they are too much.. *koff* video games, video games have changed for me.
That said I cannot provide any positive examples of what the topic asks for except maybe idk that Facade game? I haven't really given much thought about it, I just wanted to talk about Persona ok.

I was going to disagree with F-G's post, but I figured there's no point as I'm hardly going to change his mind or at the very least propose stuff he hasn't heard already. Kind of like 99.9% of debates/arguments of any kind, hah
