IGNORING IGNORANCE: UM, WHAT.
Posts
As far as I know you can still receive PMs from people who are on your ignore list. So if anything PM harassment might increase :)

i question your sources, try linking to wikipedia next time bub!
Haha as if THAT would be any more reliable... :)
Here's my rough take on this whole deal: We can all choose to ignore each other whether we have an Ignore function or not: It doesn't take a "Ignore <Person>" button to ignore someone. Why is this suddenly a community-splitting problem that merits a topic when there have been absolutely no issues pertaining to the matter at hand? Why is everyone riled up about a feature that is entirely optional and that, in effect, changes absolutely nothing?
You're right, it does change nothing; I was unable to "manually" ignore certain people's posts before, and I will be unable to use the ignore feature now. : (
Nonetheless, you're right. The inclusion of an ignore feature changes nothing, few will use it, and this entire "controversy" is really stupid. This is something 90% of forums have, for fuck's sakes. People should have been more riled up about the removal of signatures back in '09. ; )
We actually don't seem all that riled up about this. It's already boiled down to 'this feature is nearly pointless'. Its negative impacts are limited to those who use it, which isn't likely to be very many people. Is anyone really that concerned?

For the record, WIP thinks that it's a terrible idea and a "defiling of his work," so.
Ah, does the old WIPtator think that is so? Hmm.... I am inclined to agree, on a more moderate note. I am concerned, but not so much; Most members here are over 18 and somewhat more mature then just to ignore people out right, but you never know...

The kind of defiling that throwing a fit and attempting to delete the site would also cause, right?

Hmm... Possibly. Luckily for us, back room deals were made and the site saved.

Translation: I'm taddling on you >:(
Seriously though. Ignores won't happen unless there is a serious problem. And the consequences of it are so trivial. And many, many forums have this feature.

lol. he can wait behind me
author=CrazeHeh. His vision was to take down GW. I don't think that having this Ignore feature will somehow revive GW.

Actually, I am interested in taking over gamingw, if they would give me the chance. I feel as if we need the old battle axe, even now in the second decade of rpg making.
That aside, I give up on this issue, there is no point arguing over something that has been decided for us.
Adon hasn't come around. Something will happen with this feature. It won't be good. I can see it.
Ohh well...

I haven't had an occasion to try the ignore feature out yet, and sort of seriously doubt I'll ever get one.
I think, maybe, as a best case scenario, it could be a positive thing. People might be less inclined to "act the fool" if they know they can be completely written off for it. A little more posting responsibility makes for a cleaner forum for all.
As a worst case scenario, I can see it being abused as the ultimate ostrich method for "winning" an argument. You disagree, you criticize, you prompt thought provoking discussions? IGNORE.
Also, is there any notification to the ignored, or do they just blissfully continue to shout into a vacuum?
