In the Castle by Muffle
Length: ~10 minutes

In the Castle is one of the four games Muffle released this week (that fast franny...) It's a short puzzle game about being the prince to save Rapunzel from the tower - but with a twist.

It's similar to the other games Muffle has released. For one, Ayene's tiles are used for all the interiors, which is a common point between all these games. The maps in this game were easily my personal favorite of all four for being very colorful and each having a unique charm to them. All the bubbly color of the castle was just really nice. Visuals were definetly a strong point of the game. The music was also nice, but since there were only two tracks for the entirety of the game, it did get a headache inducing after a while. Luckily, as the game was short, it wasn't too big of a problem, but at least a different track for the title screen and credits would be nice.

And you say you're bad at mapping... bitch you ain't.

The puzzles themselves are decent. There's a few generic ones in there, like your classic sokoban, ice sliding, slider tile and random teleporting puzzles, but the orb puzzle and the flower puzzle were pretty unique and enjoyable. Well, even though they were generic, the rest weren't really unenjoyable either, though most of them were ridiculously easy in comparison to that two. As afromentioned, there wasn't much in the way of gameplay beyond these puzzles.

In the way of story, there was also not much. It's mainly supposed to be the classic deep-moral Muffle story. I did enjoy the slight twist in that for once you weren't the handsome prince, but on the other hand, I found the ending to be kind of abrupt, just like in The Hero of Legacy.

Or, you know, you just have to be smart enough to solve these puzzles.

There were also a few bugs here and there, such as a hexagram you couldn't get to in the slider puzzle, the roofs you could walk on in the teleportation puzzle, and how you could literally get on the door in the ice sliding one. Knowing Muffle, she'll probably fix these asap (probably even by the time this review is up, lol) hence I am not breaking any points for these.

In the Castle is a decent ten minute long experience with a few easy yet fun puzzles. The ending feels abrupt, but the story is generally good. And it's also visually pleasing, so I don't see any reason why not to give it a try. I give it three and a half masked dudes out of five.

Thank you again Frogge ^o^ I can't take full credit for the tower visuals though, Kloe touched it up a bunch. I'm glad it was enjoyable for the most part! I'm going to try and make my endings less abrupt next time, though these were all made in a week xD I'm glad you get the moral of the story ^-^
"such as a hexagram you couldn't get to in the slider puzzle,"

You can get to the hexagram in the slider puzzle. All you need to do in order to reach it is go right at the initial entry point instead of up or left. Though, I'm not sure why you'd want to reach the hexagram considering all it does is warp you back to your starting position within the room.

It was a bug. You’re playing a version where it’s already been fixed. It was impossible to get to in the version I played :P
