Nasal combat

Hello. Wait, why am I here???

Oh yeah, I played Three Ghostly Roses and then I found myself here in this garden with this cool hairy nose named Nosemund. Nosemund is clearly the equivalent of the protagonist of the original game, and like him he is stranded in an unknown place, even if in this case it is a lovely garden.
Well, lovely except for the noses!
But let's leave the noses for later...

Nosemund here meets the Datekeeper (a talking calendar!) that helps him: first he presents him two friendly noses (the only ones, sadly), one is a healer and the other is a save point. Then he tells him that he has to kill three ghostly noses (duh!) that live in this garden. That's more or less all.

No, wait, there is obviously more! This garden has three paths and each one leads to one of these three evil undead noses, but the place is infested by many others hostile noses! There is a distinct of noses: normal noses, hairy noses, dog noses, zit noses, snot noses, ghost noses (of course!)... even if on the maps they just appear as red noses, so you never know who will be the opponent!

Even if they are not very aggressive and usually they can be dodged easily, sometimes you may be forced to fight. Hey how does a nose fight? Uh in this game noses have little legs (Nosemund can walk and also run, if you hold down the shift key), and our brave Nosemund is a master of kicking, and has two special kick attacks. But also his enemies possess different skills... will he win?
Well I hope so, game is quite easy (I died only once against a ghost nose that hit me very hard), some enemies never attack (like te dog noses) but just use skills.

There are also some useful consumables scattered on the map (well it is just one map, a sort of hedge maze), both healing items and some permanent upgrades. These have also extremely funny names.

The game is extremely short, there is no much text or many dialogues, and, as I said before, pretty easy, since you can one-shot most enemies and levelling is not required to complete the game given how weak are the ghost noses. There is a bug during the final part, where one character is invisible and the final dialogue loops (buuuut given the quirky endings of the other games of the dev, I am not sure if this was intentional or not!). But this is the only problem I found.

Consider that this was a parody/joke game made for a secret santa, so in a rather short time, and despite this uses lots of custom graphics made for the occasion. And these are quite funny cute indeed! The developer clearly states that he never played the original game, and maybe this is a pity, since this could have been an even funnier parody, but I guess that the lack of time would have not allowed the making of a bigger and longer game.
Anyway for a 10/15 minutes game, this is pretty good!

Nasal Verdict
Uh parody games are so rare. Why don't we have a "Three the Bard Way"? Or "A Blurred Pine"?? "Car Stealing Prince"??? Uhm ok, maybe not a great idea but there are other games thst have (sometime terrible, solometimes good) parodies, just see Vampires Dawn. But I digress, anyway I am going to rate this game as average. Why? It is very short, but not terrible, looks good, is easy and it is both a secret santa and a parody. There is some clever aspects for what concerns the enemy design, it is aestetically pleasant, and... it is a sort of a joke game, so it cannot be taken seriously!

I give a 3/5. Yeah, three as the ghostly noses, since the developer displayed a great creativity (the amount of different noses is more than I could imagine) and a nice style (graphically very cute!), I just wish this was going to be a real parody of the original game with different maps and enviroments, more opponents and more nasal combat. And more text of course! (puns! Give me puns! Even bad ones)
Uhm.
Nah, or maybe not!
But I had ten minutes of fun (I think that the uber-easy combas mocks the original very well!) and also made me think about the original game. Anyway this is another story for another time...

Woah, thanks for the review Addict! I never would have guessed when you said you had another review for one of my games in the queue that this was the one. I'm glad it was fun! Like you said it was just a dumb little secret santa thing but I'm still pretty proud of the custom graphics, I think they turned out looking really cute. Unfortunately the ending bug wasn't intentional but I like that it was so on-brand for me that it wasn't obvious, hehehe. Thanks again for checking it out and the kind words!

Heh you know what? I played (and reviewed) Three Ghostly Roses and while making a search BAM! I unintentionally found this game so I gave a try, I do not mind little games. Yeah graphics and the variety of opponents is NOSEworthy! :P
Cool that this got reviewed. Frogge was especially creative as he didnt play Ghostly Roses for more than a few minutes haha. This is the pinnacle of secret santa gifts.

Also wait WHAT a new ghostly rose review as well? Awesome I'll check that out
