Play as a Barn owl who sets out to become a Hu'mon master. This game was made for the RMN's year of the Owl.

The game plays very similarly to Poke'mon. Catch your Hu'mons in tents, houses and estates! The Hu'mons are nearly all named after members of the community. Do you have what it takes to be Hu'mon master? Will you catch them all (for no reward at all)?

The complete... list of Hu'mons is below.

List of changes:
  • Caz has had a moveset change.
  • Gyms now have different music to the towns.
  • Gyms now have signs to help identify them.

First person to present me with a save with all the Hu'mons caught can have a free script/plugin from me (within reason).

If anyone knows of battlers (with sprites) that match the style then I'm open to making a Gold/Silver style sequel with next year's animal.

So far I'm having a lot of fun! I saw a Unity on Route 2 but accidentally killed her and I'm trying to see if she'll respawn XD

I could have sworn some level weirdness was going on at one point. Liberty started at Level 5, I got her to 7, then she wouldn't level for a while, then I swear I saw her at 4 at one point, but the leveling seems to be working normally now. I wish I had screenshoted it but I wasn't thinking about it. I hope it was just my imagination XD;;;

EDIT: Uh oh. I spent a lot of time catching a Unity but after getting her, the game gave me a WaKa instead XDXD;;;;

EDIT EDIT: But I WAS able to catch a Unity of a higher level in the forest and it worked properly! Yay! :DDD
I thought I had fixed the weird levelling bugs... I don't initExp() the starters but I never noticed their exp do anything weird.

As for catching a Waka... I never encountered that bug unless you mean you walked into a Unity and a Waka appeared, if so that was the last big bug I found and I had to redo all the enemy events in the game to get rid of it, maybe I missed one?

If you mean you caught Unity and then got to name a Waka then I'll investigate. I caught a Unity on my final run and had her the entire game.

We're dead because I took this after the final boss, Indrah massacured everyone.

To speed up finding who you want, I would run in and out of the route resetting the initial spawns until I saw who I wanted.

I caught a Unity and it asked me to name a WaKa, yeah. But...

I went back to Route 2 and tried catching a Unity and got... a Unity. So I dunno what's up XD;

I got to the lab, used the fossil on the computer, and fought (and caught) an Alex.

Dunno if this is intentional, but now the computer just makes me fight Alex when I examine it. I can't use my other fossil on it.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's not a bug.
You get the ability to get the other fossil transformed after becoming the champ :D

EDIT 2: I believe I have found all of the Hu'mon (including a secret one) except for Fomar. I'll keep looking!

EDIT 3:

Okay, it's about an hour later and I've wandered around the world and looked everywhere I could think of, and I although my Bookface collection seems to be complete, I can't find a Fomar to complete my collection. As much as I'd wanted to catch 'em all before anyone else, I'm just not sure what else to do XD (I've even fought the elite 4 and champion again)

That said, I'd like to drop my thoughts about this game here. I really enjoyed this! Really had a blast wandering around the world and collecting Hu'mons :DDD This emulates the Pokemon formula well and I had a lot of fun collecting as many of them as I could, and having them named after RMN devs and community members just make it that much more fun!

The endgame was especially awesome with (hidden for SPOILERS)

Kentonb and a secret hidden Kentona that references a Pokemon urban legend (it felt so awesome figuring that out!)

Here are my thoughts about specific issues in the game:

-Gyms could use unique music inside and maybe a sign outside that says like "KNIGHT GYM: LEADER - JAMES THE ABOMINABLE LOBSTER" or something. The first time I wandered into a gym I wasn't sure that was exactly where I was, even tho the roof is slightly different. After the first battle triggered I was like "Oh duh, it's a gym" XD

-Might also be nice to have your badges as items in your inventory so you can see how far you've come.

-It would be nice to have maybe an item in your inventory that shows a picture of how the weaknesses work. I have trouble remembering a lot of Pokemon strengths/weaknesses without a chart and I had a lot of trouble remembering the weaknesses in this game. Just something like this would be nice.

-Revival items don't seem to work at all (I only tried using them in the menu, not in battle, and they couldn't be selected). Also, Mushrooms cost the same as Cherries.

-Buff/debuff icons are flipped on your characters:

-When enemies Heal, their HP total doesn't seem to update until you hurt them.

-The EXP problem is real, though it didn't happen again until the endgame, when I went back to the lab and initiated the Program 0153 battles. Then everyone in my party wouldn't gain EXP and their status screens said "NaN" for Next EXP/Current EXP.

Eventually, the NaN characters would somehow become Level 1, and my whole main party got reset and I had to level them up from scratch.

The NaN bug, which hadn't shown up for most of the game, was now infecting me like Pokerus. Eventually I had to use Kentonb and my backup units but even they got their levels reset.

All in all, that didn't stop me from loving the game and having a blast!!! My only regret is not being able to find that last Hu'mon and getting them all XD
Ooh, the game page is up! I'm gonna catch myself a Gourd and kick some H'umon butt!

If you have a save with the NaN bug before the experience gets reset that would be super helpful. NaN means not a number, I haven't been able to replicate it. Knowing what it is might allow me to work out what is causing the bug.

I had the revival items set to ally instead of ally (dead).
I'll work through your list, I might see if I can colour code skills to show if they're super effective, I don't really expect anyone to memorise the weaknesses.

Really happy you had such a good time with the game, thank you for letting me know!

PS: Fomar is downstairs in the lab.

Haha, I should have known that something unique could spawn down there. I checked like three times and then ignored it. My Pokemon-finding skills must have dulled for me to miss that one XDXD

Caught him this morning. I want to reiterate that this is a really fun game, I think it'd be really cool if more people checked it out :DDD

Also, thanks for the type chart, that's super helpful! And I chose Liberty as my starter. She got where she just wrecked just about everything XDXD As did my Indrah and Unity, because of course I leveled the 'Mon named after me XD
Ok big update to the game, see the blog for the exact notes. I think save games should be compatible but test before deleting anything.

Also Unity has sent me her save files with all the Hu'mons caught, so congratulations to Unity! I'm thrilled that someone enjoyed this little game enough to complete that feat. She is also the reason I was able to work out the cause of the exp/level bug. So all around a massive thank you to Unity.

So happy I could help! ^_^ That bug was the biggest issue so I'm so glad it got fixed! (Not to mention you fixed everything else I mentioned, super cool! :DDD)
Well, I recently finished the game and managed to find all 41 Hu'Mons. Albeit I wouldn't have any use for a free script/plugin in the first place. So, it's probably for the best that unity picked it up.

I did find a few minor mapping errors during my playthrough. A few of the fences near the entrance for the Fab Four can be passed through in certain areas for some reason.

I also discovered if you repeatedly fight one of the fossil monsters in the lab that the game will sometimes crash as well.
I watched the two available episodes of your let's play and spotted some other oversights as well e.g. revival items only work from the menu.

I have no idea what caused the fossil crash, is it in the final episode?
I had a similar bug that unity mentioned above. I fought a Brickroad and catched it. However after the battle it prompted me to name a Cavedog and I had a Cavedog instead of a Brickroad in my party.
Where do you get Liberty if you choose Karsu?
Anyway this is a really fun game thank you :D

Edit: Where do you get the second fossil? I pretty much finished everything else but can't find it anywhere :x I beat the Fab Four and opened the other fossil machine already but the other fossil is nowhere to be found...
@Fomar0153 - No, I don't have any video of the game crashing. Though, I'm not sure if that's the best description. Basically I was speeding through repeated fights with the Alex fossil in order to quickly level up Liberty in a bid for taking on the Fab Four and the region's champion when the game suddenly closed on me. In fact, I got this happen multiple times, but after the first instance I started saving every couple of levels in order to avoid losing too many levels.

@reggird - "Where do you get Liberty if you chose Karsu?" You need to go back to the lab pick up Liberty after beating the game's version of the elite four as well as the regional champion.

I think I worked out the cause of the wrong capture bug, if you are really unlucky the map events spawn someone before the common event for capturing after battles runs. I should be able to fix it for the next update.

The starters:
First one: Choose at start.
The one your rival chose: Given to you in a house at Grey Beach.
The one strong against your rival: Pickup after beating the Fab 4 + Champ.

There are two fossils - the Double Millenium fossil and the XP fossil - you get the first one in Fossil Forest and the second one you get from your rival after your third and final battle. You can only revive one fossil before the fab 4, after beating them if you return to the lab you can use the second fossil machine. There is a typo in the Brown Town Museum, I reffered to XP fossil as the Ace fossil by mistake.

Glad you're enjoying the game :)

Ok I'll see if I can reproduce it, not sure what the cause would be.

Weird I didn't get a second fossil from the third rival battle...

I've just reinspected the event, apparently I forgot to copy and paste the fossil bit to every possible starter in all the event's branches.

Really sorry about that, if you want to edit your save it's item id 20. Or if you prefer I'm happy to edit your save and add it.

Edit: I guess everyone so far chose Liberty as their starter.
