Beetle Ninja 2 Update 1- What is Beetle Ninja 2?

Beetle Ninja 2!
I lurk a bit in the community, and I've seen a lot of excitement for this one- I love that! With Beetle Ninja sort of cemented in the community via an award being named for it, jumping into a sequel is only natural.

But what is Beetle Ninja 2 other than just a sequel to some RPGMaker game from 2020?
Similarities to Beetle Ninja:
Similarities to the original Beetle Ninja are few and far between.
The game aims to explore the same ideas with the central mechanic, but it tackles that mechanic very differently than how it was handled in Beetle Ninja 1. You're still limited to two weeks and a day system is still in place, but those weeks pass in a more passive form rather than the more active system the original used.
Aesthetically, the art direction is just a continuation of Beetle Ninja 1: you could fairly easily put a sprite from 2 into 1 without much of a noticeable difference in quality. Some characters and factions from 1 will re-appear in the sequel, and events from the original game are sometimes referenced in dialogue.
Differences from Beetle Ninja:
In order to properly explain what's different this time around, I'll say this much:
I consider Beetle Ninja 1 to be something of a mix of Earthbound, Majora's Mask, and Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland.
Beetle Ninja 2, by contrast, is turning out to be something of a mix of Mother 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and MOON: you'll see the world evolve much more, and there'll be much more of an emphasis on factions.
It's pretty obvious that this is a much more ambitious game than the original, huh?
As such, I suspect it'll take at least a few years to see this game through to completion. Beetle Ninja 2 is currently planned to be much greater in scope and in scale, with a large interconnected map and ever-changing characters and world spaces.

If there's any other questions, please feel free to ask.
