Under a full moon...

Hello, players!
A Full Moon Tale... what is this? It's a RPG Maker VX Ace game made by Runty for a friend (Ariel) in 2022, a short story driven horror game about Halloween! Well since this is Spooktober, it's a good time for a horror tale isn't it?

A Full Moon Tale can be defined as a lighthearted story (that took me 20-25 minutes to complete from the beginning to the end... and I did a single full playthrough) with dark overtones, there are in fact two possible endings (a false one and a true one) and the possibility of death/game over scenes, since this is still a Halloween horror game! Speaking about the ending, the true one, I will just tell you that it leaves some room for a sequel, and this is typical of horror stories and movies.

This is the typical situation where we do not really have a choice, we HAVE to go inside otherwise there would be no game!

Before I forget, let's talk about the story! Eri is our protagonist and itìs Halloween, so it's time to wear a costume and have a party! But Eri cannot find her friend Kori at the nearby park where they were supposed to meet, so she decides to look for her inside a nearby house. This will lead to an exciting and dangerous adventure!

A Full Moon Tale is a classic short horror adventure with puzzles, chase sequences, and exploration of the typical large mansion (seen already in many horror movies and games, but the author explicitly said that this game was inspired by many other horror stories) in order to find clues and informations about what's going on there, because you know... a large, empty house visited during Halloween may be haunted. In any case the game is pretty short and there are just a couple of tasks that I'm not going to spoil, just try this game it's not too difficult even if the puzzle may require some time.

The gpaphics are nice: the game uses some old good classic rpgmaker RTPs (included) and also custom graphics and sprites from other sources, but in most cases you won't notice any difference, it's clever the use of large sprites of monsters to represent the people in costume, and this makes the different charsets believable! Well done. Mapping is also from good to ok, so nothing more to say here, no errors or bugs that I remember and that's positive, I also liked the pictures and inserts used in some parts. Music is also used pretty well.

Heyyyy! What's that thing? Well I do not want to investigate... let's go away and finish this review!

Final Verdict
A Full Moon Tale? Well this is a solid short horror adventure, competently made and probably a must-play for those players who like classic rpgmaker horror games. I liked how the game is both lighthearted and also creepy and dark, and I'm happy I played it! Not exactly a game I can recommend to everyone, but still a very good horror adventure, short but well made!
