ello, strange creatures!
Today the game is about strange creatures: aracno-girls, harpies, marionettes, revenants and so on... BUT if you played the previous game, you will surely understand what's going on!
The short scenario starts after the events of the first game: after a long hourney Iora Bladefeather brings an unconscious Ry, the Arachneid Witch-Mercenary (thas was the protagonist of the first game playable immediately from the beginning) to a mansion, looking for a healer, the Great Sage, but here there is only a marionette... a puppet that is called "The Wanderer". Without any other option, Iora stops here and with the help of the marionette tries to find a cure for her lover...
Did you remember Ry and Iora from the previous game? well, they're back!
"Fateless Two, Faithless Thee - interlude" is exactly an interlude: an interactive short story that contains another short love story set in the same mansion at a different time: as Iora looks for the various ingredients to create the medicine, new cutscenes are unlocked, showing the events of the past that happened in the same locations. It's a really simple, linear and short visual novel adventure, with no battles, chases, puzzles or risk of game over (you can also save anytime if you really want, but the game can be completed in a single sitting), but it's pretty good for some reasons, and the most important is the use of some really nice custom made cutscenes and cute chibi portraits, that are different from the more serious ones from the first game of the series.
Mapping is pretty good, I did not find any error and all locations are competently made, anyway it's 90% Rtps and there are also not so many place to visit nor there are a lot of cutscenes, but still it's solid from this point of view. Music is from Peritune and it's pretty good and appropriate, also much better than the usual rpgmaker rtp music.
Aside for this there isn't much to say.
Uh oh, it seems that today LOVE IS IN THE AIR!!!
Final Verdict
"Fateless Two, Faithless Thee - interlude" is a very short and simple interlude (like many other event games, it feels like a part of a bigger game, like a prologue) rather than a complete single adventute, even if it contains a short complete scenario inside. The game is totally linear, and more like a walking simulator than anything else, anyway it's enhanced by the custom made art and enjoyable dialogues. I really find it difficult to rate it (same happened for Cronies the Game), but I'd say 3.3/5, if it was possible to give this rating. And only IF you enjoyed the first game of the series! If this is the case, you'll like this game too, I'm sure, but if instead you did not play it... well this game will make little sense for you, so I can only recommed it to those who enjoyed the previous adventures of Ry and Iora!
